The Prime Minister is visiting the Region of Western Macedonia

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Kastoria this morning, the first stop on his tour of the Region of Western Macedonia.

“I would in no way want this pre-election period, in view of the spring elections, to be spent in a “cockfight”, in a crescendo of populism and mud, which in the end I believe are not of interest to the citizens. If the official opposition has chosen this path, we will leave it alone. We will talk about the future. We will tell the citizens that we tried, we achieved a lot but we can achieve more.

We will talk about how we envision Greece in 2030 in each Region. About how we will make your own lives better, about how we will improve wages, about how we will secure pension increases, about how we will build a better National Health System, which will meet the needs of all Greek citizens , on how we will strengthen our Education”, noted the Prime Minister, addressing citizens who welcomed him in the center of the city.

“Each election has its own challenges. And here really no vote should go to waste, because we have a duty, all of us together, to deactivate the “mine” of simple proportionality. The first ballot will be the critical ballot. This will finally send the message of who should govern Greece for the next four years”, added the Prime Minister.

“Nothing we’ve achieved is taken for granted, nothing we’ve achieved is taken for granted. We can very easily imagine how another government would reverse all that we have achieved and we would go back to times that we want to forget once and for all. We won’t allow it. A self-reliant Greece equals a self-reliant New Republic. This is our goal, we will achieve it with your help and your support”, emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

A key project is being implemented

Afterwards, the Prime Minister visited the construction site of the new Kleisoura Tunnel, in Verga, Kastoria, where he was informed about the progress of the works by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Giorgos Karagiannis and the President and CEO of “AKTOR” Giorgos Syrianos.

The project, which was a perennial request of the residents of Kastoria, Eordaia and Amyntaios, concerns the construction of the new Kastoria – Ptolemaida Provincial Road, 10.4 kilometers long, in the section from the Kotouri stream to the boundaries of the Kozani Regional Unit.

The project includes the 1.36 km Kleisoura Tunnel junction, four level crossings, a bridge and other individual interventions.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of the Interior in charge of Macedonia – Thrace issues Stavros Kalafatis, the Deputy Minister in charge of Transport matters and MP for Kozani of the New Democracy Michalis Papadopoulos, the Deputy Minister in charge of Infrastructure Giorgos Karagiannis, the deputies of Kozani of the ND, Stathis Konstantinidis, Paraskevi Vryzidou and Giorgos Amanatidis, the Member of Parliament for Kastoria of the ND Zisis Tzikalayas, the Member of Parliament for Florina of the ND Yiannis Antoniadis, the General Secretary of Infrastructure Maria-Elli Gerardi, the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia Giorgos Kasapidis and the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office in Thessaloniki Maria Antoniou.
