SYRIZA scored an “own goal” out of nowhere, blurring, in part, the message of enlargement and renewal that Alexis Tsipras wanted to give with the announcement of 75% of the ballots

Two were the results from the “guerrilla” of Pavlos Polakis. That his main internal party “opponent” in Chania, Giorgos Stathakis, should gain points in the battle of the cross, but also that the possibility of the sixth on the ballot being his friend, according to sources from Crete, Michalis Hairetakis, should be removed.
SYRIZA scored an “own goal” out of nowhere, blurring, in part, the message of enlargement and renewal that Alexis Tsipras wanted to give with the announcement of 75% of the ballots.
In the Political Secretariat of Saturday, according to information, the issue of the candidacy of politician Michalis Hairetakis was mentioned, which was referred along with some other persons to the competent Ballot Committee. The MP of Chania reportedly raised the issue in a well that formed after the body’s meeting, showing his annoyance at the non-inclusion of Mr. Hairetakis in the final list.
This was followed by his post which caused an alarm in Koumoundourou. “Obviously due to a ‘mistake’, MICHALIS CHAIRETAKIS was not included in the announcement of the names of the SYRIZA-PS candidates in Chania, despite yesterday’s recommendation by the political secretariat. Until the “mistake” is corrected, my nomination is not valid either. I don’t sell friends and partners, because some people have insecurities and behave in corridor terms! EVERYTHING will be resolved in the political secretariat and the Central Committee!!”, wrote the former deputy minister of health on Facebook.
In SYRIZA it was considered that the “blackmail” cannot go unanswered and a strict comment addressed to the MP followed: “The decisions on the SYRIZA PS ballots are collective and the final decision on their preparation rests with the party bodies. Participation in the ballots is voluntary for all executives, members of parliament and candidate members of parliament, without terms and conditions. Anyone who disagrees with the collective decisions on the composition of the ballots has every right not to participate in them.”
Discussions among the executives in Koumoundourou flared up, as many remembered the earlier posts of Pavlos Polakis that caused heated discussions within the organs. It is a fact that recently, with the investigations he has done for many executives of the New Democracy, in relation to financial complaints, the climate had changed.
Previous “keyboard interventions”, which had given pressure to the blue faction to blame SYRIZA, had been erased. He managed, however, with one move to “spill the milk to the brim”, as many connected his post with the presence of Giorgos Stathakis on the party’s ballot in Chania and whether together with Michalis Hairetakis he could “scissors” the candidacy of. Comments such as “Chania is not his” were heard from party executives and MPs in private discussions that saw introversion returning. It is clear from Koumoundourou that they immediately “threw the ball in the court” of Pavlos Polakis, leaving open the possibility that he will be left out of the ballots.
The second post by Pavlos Polakis came to reduce the tension and according to information there must have been interventions of “colder forces” within the party. “Without leaks and DIRECTLY: The collective decision yesterday in the political secretariat contained 6 candidates in Chania!! I serve her by honoring both friendship and companionship and personal dignity. Obviously, EVERYTHING will be solved and decided in a clear and public way in the party organs. This and FINALLY until the meetings of the bodies, because Mitsotakis must leave with a BANG and the next time be DIFFERENT!!”, he said.
This post was enough for SYRIZA to consider, according to the report, that the issue is considered closed.
No one has the right to set conditions for participation in the ballots and this is a message that concerns everyone, they emphasized. From Koumoundourou, they make it clear that the decisions will be collective and coordinated with the aim of compiling the best ballots for victory and political change.
