The meeting of the American Foreign Minister with Nikos Dendias for the start of the 4th round of the Greece-US Strategic Dialogue took place in a particularly warm atmosphere.

Before the official joint statements, Anthony Blinken referred to the close relations between Greece and the USA, even making fun of the US president’s “nickname”.

“Over a billion Americans live in or visit Greece every year, millions of course are of Greek descent. Among them is our president, or Joe Bidenopoulos, as he likes to be called,” said the American Foreign Minister.

“In the summer, Prime Minister Mr. Mitsotakis noted that Greece is an attractive destination for cultural exchanges because it is a laboratory of constant change,” the American Foreign Minister also said in his introductory remarks. “It’s a wonderful way to describe Greece and I think the same can be said about us and our friendship.” “Our relations are constantly evolving, innovating, ultimately leading to a better future,” Mr. Blinken emphasized and concluded: “I am confident that today’s strategic dialogue will advance all these efforts and help us perform better for the Greek and the American people and for the world, because that is our responsibility.”
