Call for conscription, in view of the elections, “in the great struggle to continue to take Greece high with the New Democracy self-reliant and strong”, addressed the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakisduring his speech to citizens of of Grevena who welcomed him in the town square.

Mr. Mitsotakis raised the dilemmas of elections and characteristically said:

“Now compare the four years of New Democracy and the previous four years of SYRIZA and you have a clear choice in front of you: are we going forward or are we going back? will we remain in an environment of reduced taxes or will we return to overtaxing the middle class? will we still have a country that is safe, shields its borders, counts in Europe or will we return to times of third world quests and other geopolitical concerns?

These are the dilemmas before us, and this is why the spring elections have their own special significance. And I have no doubt that the Greek people have both memory and judgment and know well what their interest is, both individually and collectively. I have no doubt that it will finally send the message, that the strong New Democracy must continue this path towards relegation, towards progress”.

As far as the pre-election confrontation is concerned, the prime minister noted that he is not interested in polarization and the sterile confrontations and underlined: “One thing I am not going to do. For the sake of the pre-election period, I am not going to be tempted to order you things, which I know I cannot implement tomorrow. I leave that to others, who, moreover, have a great deal of experience in tearing up memorandums, with one law and one article, and then sinking us still deeper into a third memorandum, to finally crush the middle class. We look ahead with confidence, we talk about our work, we talk about the future, we are not interested in sterile confrontations, we are not interested in bitterness, we are not interested in polarization and I think you are not interested either. Citizens care about who will solve their problems. From then on, we will respond to every challenge, but we will continue with confidence and trust to fight for your own advantage, for your own good.”

The prime minister said that his government succeeded, despite the great difficulties and crises it faced, and emphasized: “The ship of the homeland is safe today and the Greeks all feel safer, because, despite the difficulties, we succeeded and kept the central our pre-election commitments. We cut taxes, created more jobs, fortified our borders. Yes, because the sea also has borders that must be protected.”

He referred to the support that the government provided and provides to society, businesses and workers and pledged to continue to support vulnerable social groups, not by taxing the middle class but by development.

The prime minister referred to issues concerning the prefecture of Grevena, he said he was optimistic about the development prospects it has and pledged that his government would continue to support the region with the implementation of the necessary projects.
He said that earlier he visited mushroom plants and emphasized that Grevena is the Greek mushroom capital and can become a European and world mushroom capital.

Regarding the ski center of Vasilitsa, he said that it is the “queen of ski centers in Greece” and should become the first ski center in the country.

He pointed out that the Police School in Grevena, which was closed in 2012, will reopen in September. He even commented that the school was opened under Konstantinos Mitsotakis and is reopening again under the New Democracy government.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Transport Michalis Papadopoulos, the Governor of Western Macedonia Giorgos Kasapidis, the Mayor of Kastoria Giorgos Dastamanis, members and friends of New Democracy.
Mr. Mitsotakis shook hands with citizens, took photos with them and exchanged wishes for Halloween and the upcoming Lent.
