This is not a “bad time”, but a prescribed crime reports the KKE in his announcement about the fatal accident in Tempe.

“The KKE expresses its sadness over the unprecedented fatal train accident in Tempe and its sincere condolences to the families of the victims. It invites its members and friends to participate in the blood drives organized in the cities where the injured are being treated.

We require it to be complete investigation into the causes of this tragedy, let nothing be covered up!

In any case, the tragedy at Tempe did not come out of nowhere.

For some time now there have been signs that a very dangerous situation has developed in rail transport, both for passengers and for workers. There were numerous warnings from workers that it was only a matter of time before a more serious accident occurred, which were apparently ignored by the government and the company.

This is confirmed by the complaints about the poorly maintained network, about the shortcomings and gaps in security systems, personnel and critical infrastructure, such as signage. Just a few days ago, the announcement of the trade union faction of the KKE to the railway workers posed exactly these questions, with the shocking prediction that “we will not wait for the coming accident to see them shed crocodile tears making findings”.

Therefore, it is not a “bad moment”, but a prescribed crime with causes and culprits.

The responsibilities of the company are huge, as in its announcements it did not give any answer about the details and causes of the accident, not even about the exact number of passengers on the trains. However, it receives 50 million euros a year from the state as a subsidy.

All of the above are the results of the perennial policy of the so-called “liberation” of the railways, state underfunding, the division of the railway project into several pieces and the privatization of the former TRAINOSE. It is a criminal – as it turns out – policy, which bears the stamp of all ND, SYRIZA and PASOK governments to date. As part of this policy, workers were fired, flexible labor relations and intensification were imposed on those who remained, while the Italian company was subsidized with a lump sum.

These responsibilities are not barred by the resignation of a minister, nor can they be hidden behind the prime minister’s statements about human error.

This policy, which all other parties have as “gospel”, has led to tragic accidents in other EU countries as well. So no one has the right to play it ignorant.

On the altar of this criminal state policy, as well as on the altar of the investor’s profits, the necessary conditions for safe and modern rail transport are sacrificed, since they are systematically treated as a “cost”.

The conflict with the above is literally a matter of life and death!”
