New Security Aid Package for Ukraine amounting to approximately 400 million dollarsis expected to be announced during German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to the White House, according to two US officials cited by CNN.

The US package will include ammunition for HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and various other artillery systems. It will also include bridging tanks for the first time to cross trenches and narrow water obstacles, officials said.

On Thursday, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US would announce another aid package to Ukraine, including ammunition for HIMARS and artillery, but did not specify its extent.

This aid will be drawn directly from US stockpiles under the Presidential Withdrawal Authority (PDA) regulation, meaning weapons and equipment can reach Ukraine quickly.

Last week, the U.S. announced $2 billion in aid under the Ukraine Security Initiative (USAID), which contracts industry to procure the supplies and takes longer.

With the package expected on Friday, the US will have committed more than 32 billion dollars for Ukraine since the start of the war on February 24, 2022.
