SYRIZA calls on the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to abolish the committee that was announced yesterday, noting that the auditee cannot appoint his auditor.

The withdrawal of Mr. Zeliaskopoulos from the Commission, after the storm of reactions, does not change anything at all, comments SYRIZA.

The entire announcement

“While the country is still mourning its dead, the government is engaging in an unprecedented fiasco with the so-called “supra-party” Commission. It is not possible for the auditee to appoint his auditor.

The study of Mr. Mitsotakis to set up a Commission appointed by him that will preempt the ongoing investigation of the Justice, is a direct intervention in its work, involves pre-election expediencies and is extremely suspicious.

The withdrawal of Mr. Zeliaskopoulos from the Commission, after the storm of reactions, does not change anything at all.

We call on Mr. Mitsotakis to immediately abolish the Committee in question and let the Judiciary and the competent authorities carry out their work and investigate the causes of the accident.

Times of tragedy are not suitable for communication tactics.”
