On Sunday, March 5, on Lines 1, 2 and 3 of the Metro, the Union of Electric Conductors and other traffic workers STASY SA is going on a 24-hour strike, calling for participation in the Pallaic rally at 11 am. in the Constitution.

At the same time, the Union informs that the trains will run from 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon to facilitate the attendance of the demonstrators at the rally.

As the Union states in its announcement, “shocked and deeply saddened by the horrible accident in Tempe, small in front of the scale of the destruction, we have no words to express ourselves for the tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. The pain of the relatives and friends of the victims of the tragic railway accident cannot be eased these hours with words of consolation. Their mourning has the support and solidarity of all, which extends beyond the borders of the country”.

SIEK, continues the announcement, expressing its undivided support to the relatives of the deceased, as well as to the Unions active in the HELLENIC TRAIN, tomorrow, March 5, is carrying out a 24-hour strike (Lines 1, 2 & 3).

Despite the warnings, written and verbal from the workers’ Unions, regarding the problems and security gaps, the absence of protection measures, the serious shortages in personnel and equipment, the authorities were ostentatiously deaf! Apparently, they are devotees of “if the setback doesn’t happen, then we don’t take steps to prevent it”. And that’s where the setback arose and even took on unimaginable and unbearable dimensions, bringing to our lips the unanswered “why?”.

Why should the huge omissions, the criminal indifference in Security Matters, the unjustified delays cost the lives of so many innocent people and deprive them of a smile from their lips once and for all? The political responsibility for this is enormous and we will not tolerate its transfer to scapegoats. Our demand: That the responsibilities be sought and that justice be served!”.

“Immediate measures should be taken to restore and ensure what is called “Railway safety” so that we never again experience a tragedy of this magnitude! We mourn our lost fellow citizens and colleagues, we express our sincere condolences to their families and as a minimum tribute we participate in the rally that will be held at Syntagma on Sunday, March 5 at 11 am. For this reason, the trains will run from 9 am to 4 pm, to facilitate the attendance of the demonstrators at the gathering organized by the railway Unions” concludes the announcement of the Union of Electric Conductors and other traffic workers STASY SA.
