Confrontation about the accident and what followed
Tension prevailed in parliament, during the meeting of the Committee on Educational Affairs between the Minister of Education Niki Kerameoand the SYRIZA MP, Niko Filiwhen the latter reacted to the words of Mrs. Kerameos who said that “at the Ministry of Education we are doubly devastated, because the thread of life was cut off for both male and female students. What matters is that they work effectively, so that our apologies are transformed into actions so that we don’t experience similar situations again.”
Mr. Philis he countered that “mourning and rage continue the country. But also anger that we can’t leave it like that. Rage against a policy that sees their existence as a number. He sees them as outnumbered. Violence is the death of more than 57 people. The causes of the tragedy are political. To respect the killing of the children and the wounding of our innocent fellow citizens yesterday in the Constitution. Unspeakable violence unfolds around us. Apology must be understood. Not after 5 days. What excuse when you hit the kids in Syntagma Square. This parliament of the Greeks is responsible for what happened. Not the whole parliament. The majority. The system has been vilified for so long. This majority is responsible. It turns a mourning into a field for political contestation. I ask the minister, will she show an innocent face to the children who came down to demonstrate? Will absences be counted?’
Mrs. Kerameos reacted by saying “shame on you”, while Mr. Filis replied that “you don’t have the right only to mourn my lady. Children cannot mourn.” Mrs. Kerameos pointed out that no apology was ever given for the Eye with Mr. Philis shouting: “Shame on you, shame on you. Get out of here. Such an offsetting of the dead in the Parliament? Shame on you, shame on you.”
