Foreign Ministry Condemns Air Threat Against Saudi Arabia

by

The Foreign Ministry unequivocally condemns via Twitter the recent airstrikes targeting the city of Taif in Saudi Arabia, which endangers the lives of civilians, as it emphasizes.

“These attacks are direct violations of international law,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

According to a telegram from the APE-MPE, the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia announced that a “hostile air target” had been located and intercepted that had been launched against the city of Taif, in the province of Makkah, broadcast the Saudi Arabian TV channel Aliya.

It is noted that tomorrow, Tuesday, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will receive in Athens his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. This visit, the second visit of the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia to Athens in less than a year (he had previously participated in the Friendship Forum in February 2021) follows the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with the Minister of Defense Nikos Panayotopoulos, in Saudi Arabia last April and of course the Prime Minister’s visit last October.

Bilateral relations in the fields of defense, economy and investment, as well as co-operation in international organizations, are expected to be at the center of discussions, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. Developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf region are also expected to be examined in depth.
