Its immediate convocation Institutions & Transparency Committee of the Parliamentin order to investigate its causes tragedy of TempeSYRIZA-PS asks its president.
His MP SYRIZA– PS and vice-president of the same committee, G. Katrougalos, states in his relevant letter:
“At the previous meeting of the Conference of Presidents, it was unanimously agreed in principle to immediately convene the Institutions and Transparency Committee to investigate the causes of the Tempe tragedy, on the basis of a joint decision of all wings of the Parliament and not simply at the request of the opposition.
However, because, during today’s meeting of the Conference, the governing majority withdrew from this unanimous commitment, we are obliged to file a request with this letter, based on 43A par. 2 sec. a and 41A par. 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, for an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency to discuss this matter by summoning the following persons:
1. The former Minister of Transport, Mr. K. Karamanlis, the Deputy Ministers Mr. M. Papadopoulos and G. Karagiannis and the General Secretary Mr. I. Xifaras.
2. Of Mr. K. Hatzidakis, as the first minister who had concluded on behalf of the public the contract 10005/2007 for the ETCS control system.
3. The current and previous management (in case it has been replaced after the accident) of the companies OSE, ERGOSE and Hellenic Train.
4. The representatives of the Panhellenic Federation of Railways, the Panhellenic Union of OSE Stationmasters and the OSE Train Drivers. Greek society cannot tolerate either the covering up of responsibilities, nor the postponement of their investigation into the indefinite future. In view of this dire need, this request of ours has absolute priority over other requests that we have filed in the past.”
