“Anger must be transformed into an active act of subversion, not denial and nullification,” the press representative of PASOK-Movement for Change emphasized on the First Program of Hellenic Radio. Dimitris Manzos, referring to the fatal crash in Tempe.

Asked to comment on the conclusions from yesterday’s meeting of the Parliament’s Institutions Committee on the issue of railways, D. Manzos noted:

“Mr. Karamanlis fell into many contradictions and contradictions. He was unable to explain the critical, factual incidents related to the delays in the implementation of the remote control and photo-signaling contract, the opacity in the operation of the Railways, OSE, ERGOSE, and the partisanship regarding the management and staffing of the organizations. Mr. Karamanlis hastened to tell us that the age limit of 48 years, which was valid until he modified it at the end of May 2022, was for the new Station Masters. This is inaccurate. Because the same OSE had set the age limit of 48 years on the census platform and in the transfers.

D. Manzos particularly referred to the “critical finding of the inspectors of the National Transparency Authority, in September 2021, which was filed as a confidential document in the Protocol of the Minister of Infrastructure, on October 4, 2021, and in which there is talk of huge responsibilities of official actors , for delays, failures and omissions, regarding the work of remote control, that is, the Convention 717/2014. The EAD even asked ERGOSE, the Financial Prosecutor and the supervising Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Karamanlis, for disciplinary proceedings and the adoption of recommendations within two months. Mr. Karamanlis replied yesterday that he did not know. Does he want this argument to pass as believable to the Greek citizens? Or was the report so confidential that he did not even see it when it was filed in his office?’

Dimitris Manzos declared that “it is time for transparency, self-criticism, honesty and justice” and described yesterday’s visits by Deputy Minister Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos and the president of Syriza, Mr. Alexis Tsipras, to Larissa as a communication show. “We had on the one hand the Deputy Minister of Transport, who now remembered his role, going to see the old local remote control system and Mr Leader of the official opposition going to Yapi, where the other pending remote control system is to be installed. These moves constitute an underestimation of the citizens’ intelligence and cause confusion.”

Highlighting the stakes of the elections, the Press Representative of PASOK-Movement for Change, argued: “The question is in which country do we want to live. The anger out there is concentrated, entrenched within us and must be transformed into an active act of subversion, not denial and nullification, with a horizon for the future of the country”, while regarding the opinion polls conducted at this particular time, he noted: “We see an increase in the undecided vote and a tendency to strengthen the ends, which must be stopped. If the undecided continue to be disillusioned with the political debate, it is clear that they will either abstain or move towards an anti-establishment vote. The bet for our democracy is for all political forces to reflect on the weight of their responsibility and speak politically.

He noted that “We must ask ourselves what the deep, anachronistic state is and how it is changing… It is a deep state to be in charge of the country and to distribute resources of the European Recovery and Resilience Fund to friends and relatives, on terms of favoritism. It is deep state to set up a system of wiretapping and surveillance through the Maximos Palace. It is a deep state to have a Convention that would have saved dozens of lives, locked in the drawers of many services, while at the same time “dancing” direct assignments, everywhere. Is it a deep state, to make party appointments of Stationmasters with age limits exceeded? and to have put party members of ONNED in the Organizations.”

D. Manzos explained that Greece is in danger of becoming a European state, only in geographical terms, after yesterday’s publication of the New York Times which reveals the simultaneous monitoring of an executive of Meta (Facebook) in Greece through Predator and by the EYP, while he recalled the recent refusal of the Hellenic Government to meet with the European Parliament’s LIBE Committee: “It is us and the Poland of former President Mr. Kaczynski who have refused an institutional meeting with the Committee of the European Parliament and in fact for civil liberties. I don’t know if this treats honor in our country. It seems creepy to us!”

Dimitris Manzos also referred to the statement of the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, who had pointed out that “the issue is that after the elections the country has the right government”, stressing: “Every electoral process with whatever electoral system and if conducted it may lead to a government. The question is, indeed, which government? A government that will reproduce centralized models of opacity and favoritism, or a government that in the name of stability will implement policies of stagnation, will not do the country any good. We speak the language of truth with citizens. We have proposed ten policy points which for us are identity and valuable. As long as we have a strong mandate we will have the ability to force political change and a new political paradigm. It is premature, without the innkeeper that is the Greek people and without the polls, which are the only real poll, to talk at this moment about post-election partnerships. Especially after Tempi, we have left the conditions of “accounting”, in politics, we must go to a truly political process, with proposals and political dialogue, so that we can all be evaluated properly”, concluded the Press Representative of PASOK-Movement for Change.
