The Deputy Minister awarded three women who have distinguished themselves for their work and are role models for young girls.
The actions and measures of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs that encourage female entrepreneurship, increase the participation of women in the economic activity of the country and ensure equal access of women and men to the labor market, were presented by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, responsible for of Demographic and Family Policy and Gender Equality, Maria Syregela, speaking today at the 2nd Women’s Conference: “Modern women-Successful managers”, organized by Business Review.
As pointed out in a related announcement, the creation of the Innovation Center for Women, the business grant programs of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) with an emphasis on women, the second business opportunity program for victims of domestic violence and the awarding of the Equality Badge to businesses, are some of the actions implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, with the aim of supporting women’s work and entrepreneurship.
“We don’t stick to words, but, with specific measures, with appropriate interventions and targeted actions, we actually support women. We are on the side of women who want to join the labor market, we support women who struggle to break the “glass ceiling” and we promote actions to strengthen the equal representation of the sexes in senior management positions”, said Mrs. Syringela.
The Deputy Minister then awarded three women who have distinguished themselves for their work and are role models for young girls.
Mrs. Syregela awarded the president of the Hellenic Tourism Organization, Angela Gerekou, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sofia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou, and the president of the Hellenic Association for the Protection of the Marine Environment, Semiramis Paleou.
“We take strength from women who have distinguished themselves in their fields and we will not stop our fight until the complete elimination of inequalities between men and women is achieved, the equal position of women in the workplace and business is recognized and barriers are broken down which deprive society of important resources and valuable experience” underlined the Deputy Minister of Labor.
