Yannis Ragousis sent an extrajudicial protest-statement to the “Political” newspaper, according to a statement from SYRIZA-PS. As noted, the SYRIZA-PS member of parliament calls on the newspaper “to immediately remedy the insult against him and to withdraw all the deliberately distorted, illegal and slanderous reports about him”.
The full announcement reads as follows:
The attached out-of-court protest – statement and invitation of the SYRIZA-PS MP, Yiannis Ragousis, was delivered today by a bailiff to the POLITICAL newspaper, following today’s defamatory front page publication in which it reproduces and does not retract yesterday’s false, inaccurate and defamatory allegations.
In the courtroom, among other things, the following are noted:
1. The OEK for the first time in 2007, based on a Ministerial Decision, established the possibility for all, without exception, three-child OEK beneficiaries to take out a loan for the construction or purchase of a first home and among the conditions was the obligation that the property had a minimum area of ​​100 sq.m.
Specifically, it is provided in (ΦEK 250/27_2_2007) YÎ OYPΙKH APOΤΑΣH, which added to the beneficiaries of article 31 of the Regulation of conditions for the provision of loans and housing and the guardians of 3 children: “The minimum area of ​​the residence (not including the proportion of common areas) for beneficiaries with 3 children, it is set at 100 sq.m.”
2. With the Ministerial Decision of 2000 based on Law 2224/1994, two ways of repaying loans of OEK beneficiaries, without exception, were provided for all the borrowers beneficiaries of the OEK, either interest-free repayment in 25 years, or one-time payment of the remaining amount.
Specifically, in YA 501//2000 (YA 50165 FEK B 403 2000): Arrangements of debts of beneficiaries of OEK loans ND 1138/72 etc. (289865), ca. LOAN DEBTORS L.2224/1994, according to which: “Beneficiaries who have been granted or will be granted after the publication of this, an interest-free loan for the purchase or construction of a residence on privately owned land, may the lapse of 2 years and before the completion of 5 years from the signing of the loan agreement, to pay off the outstanding amount of the loan in one lump sum, with a 40% discount, provided that any overdue debts and default interest will be paid at the same time”. Therefore, there was no individual and much more generous arrangement especially for me by OEK.
3. The granting of the loans in question was not competitive, there was no limitation on the number of potential beneficiaries, as a result of which all those who met the conditions for its granting could receive the loan in question and therefore whoever received it was not deprived of another third-child or weaker fellow citizen of ours.
4. The conversion of my permanent residence to professional use took place in 2014, i.e. after the repayment of the loan to OEK, in February 2011. Since 2014, the property in question has been the permanent residence of the three children during the winter months me and from 2019 and my ex-wife, while during the tourist months I rent this for livelihood reasons. I, unlike my political opponents, do not have “unspecified” deposits or offshore companies, like Ministers and officials of the outgoing government.
For the above reasons, I call on the newspaper in its next page to immediately restore the insult against me and to retract all the deliberately distorted, illegal and slanderous reports about me and to restore the truth.
The remedial statement should have the following content: “We apologize to Yannis Ragousis for our publication, which we recognize was entirely slanderous. We published it in order to damage his honor and reputation and to serve petty political expediencies. The truth is that there is no moral, political or legal issue regarding the residence of Yiannis Ragousis in Paros. Much more, Giannis Ragousis is in no way connected with illegal sums of money, with offshore companies and with undeclared bank accounts and deposits”.
b) cease from now on to use distorted and defamatory claims, references and disparaging characterizations against me.
Otherwise, I declare that I will appeal before the competent criminal and civil Courts for the full restoration of my damaged honor and reputation and to protect it from further insults.
