Statements by Mitsotakis from Gerakas

“Tomorrow I will be in Evros and I will have the opportunity to sign the extension of the fence project that shielded Evros and our homeland from illegal immigration invasions.

And I want to take this opportunity to remind who are those who supported this effort and who are still facing the difficult effort our country is making to secure its borders.

Just yesterday, a SYRIZA MEP supported an amendment – pay attention, listen to this – asking the European Commission not to finance the Evros fence. Listen up everyone, no boos needed.

It just takes judgment and the right choice for the next day. And to all those, inside and outside Greece, who told us: Europe does not finance such projects, I answer them by telling them two things:

Firstly, as a result of the Greek intervention, Europe is changing its attitude and now recognizes the importance attributed at the European level to the need to protect the external borders.

But to all those who are fighting today, wearing their party hat and party blinders, to undermine the work of this Government, I give them a clear answer: With or without European money, the fence on the Evros will be finished”, noted the Prime Minister earlier from the Hawk.
