The President of SYRIZA PS made a tour of the market of Argos on Friday morning, Alexis Tsipras. During his tour he discussed with citizens and shopkeepers the market situation, punctuality, debt accumulation and the dramatic decline in incomes.

After his tour of the market of Argos, Alexis Tsipras did the following statement to the press representatives:

“The government, its ministers and the prime minister are dealing with toxicity, division, because they have no arguments, no answers to the big problems that concern the citizens. They do not feel the problems that concern the citizens. We want to be among the citizens to search for solutions and answers to their big problems.

Accuracy has turned everyday life into a Golgotha. Income does not come out after the third week of the month. The feeling of insecurity, uncertainty dominates the majority of Greek society.

The majority of citizens now understand that the stake of the elections is not which party but which day will dawn on us. Will we continue to sink or will we change? And the condition of political change is the victory of SYRIZA.

That is why we clearly say that voting for SYRIZA means political change and a progressive government. Political change and a progressive government means from the next day a plan, so that we have an increase in wages, a reduction in prices, regulation of debts, a strong social state, efficient, next to the citizen. With a new SSY, with safety and protection for all, and with more justice. Justice everywhere.

This is our motto. This is our vision. And we will put it into practice with the vote of the citizens.”

Earlier, Mr. Tsipras addressed a short speech to a crowd of people who had gathered in the market of Argos to welcome him:

“I want to thank you for your presence and your welcome. And I want to say that regardless of what the measurements say and write, I see the only measurement, which is the contact with the world. And people are already saying one thing. It says so far!

And this has nothing to do with left, right, or center. It has to do with our life and our daily life. Injustice is not tolerated, neither by the left, nor by the right, nor by the centrist. So our goal must be to create that hope, which is missing from the great majority, that things can change. That we are not all the same and that we can with honesty, with hard work and determination create a better perspective for the place, with justice, more justice.

I understand that this feeling that prevails today in Greek society is a feeling that says “Enough is enough. That’s enough”. Why; Because we see that our lives are becoming more difficult day by day, that the great majority are struggling to make ends meet. Income is saved in the third week. Prices have skyrocketed. Increases in electricity, at the supermarket, increases in petrol prices.

We were told that the crisis is imported. Yes, but profiteering is not imported, it is Greek. Because, throughout Europe there is a crisis of accuracy, but only Greece is first in wholesale electricity prices throughout Europe. We have the most expensive petrol in all of Europe and we have the highest prices in the supermarket, at the same time we have the lowest wages, with the exception of Bulgaria.

So, what I believe Greek society demands today – left, right, centrist – everyone, I tell you this emphatically, what they demand is more justice. And we say that what is needed is a substantial change, not only in the government, but also in the policy pursued by the government. A change in everyday life, in our lives. Political change should be consistent with a major change in the everyday life of citizens.

Political change will only come if SYRIZA comes first. And everyone knows that. And a vote for SYRIZA means higher wages, lower prices, debt settlement, a strong and efficient state. Not a state that is a threat to the citizen, not a state that fills with insecurity because it is discredited. And unfortunately we saw this in the most tragic way in Tempe. But a state that will be next to the citizen, with a strong health system, so that when we find ourselves in need we have decent conditions of care, and perspective for young people. Where is the future of this place? A future that unfortunately we constantly devalue.

You say they should be held accountable. Politicians are accountable at the ballot box and the ones who will judge them are you. It is the citizens who will give their verdict. Nothing and no one will be forgotten. We will give the possibility, however, and we come the next day to build, to build. Not to get revenge. But to set rules. Rules of equality, rules of meritocracy, rules of accountability. In this clientelistic, rusfetological state that they built for 40 years. In this state and in this political setting of family rule. Because the same people rule, the same families.

We will come to give a perspective of equality, meritocracy, accountability. This is our plan. And of course, when we say justice everywhere we also mean justice in Justice. And we want justice in the Court.”
