“The crucial polls are the first polls” and “the main elections are the elections of May 21”, emphasized the Minister of the Interior Makis Voridis, in his statements on the sidelines of a conference on the contribution of the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia – Thrace to the promotion of entrepreneurship, which takes place in Thessaloniki.

Three main things will be decided in the May 21 elections, the interior minister noted and explained: “The first is obviously who will be first. The second what will be the difference of the first from the second and this matters because if it is a clear difference, it is irreversible in the second election. And the third is how close this percentage of the first election will be to the independence of the second election.”

“The first elections are indeed undermined by the system of simple proportionality, but they are not relaxed at all. They are extremely critical. And with this rationale, the ND is participating in these elections”, said Mr. Voridis.

He also underlined that in these first elections it is very important “that the scenario of progressive governance be cancelled, collapsed, that it cannot be implemented, i.e. a government with Tsipras, Varoufakis, and Androulakis in place of Kammenos”. This, he added, “is a scenario, it is a possibility that we call on the Greek people not to allow to happen. This means increased participation and a strong mandate to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to the ND”.

Regarding the election process, Mr. Voridis pointed out that “the Ministry of the Interior is always ready for election night” and assessed that “the specificity and the additional element beyond what we consistently know about every election night is that this year we will be able to get results – those that the contractor will transmit – much faster. We will have national results for the parties around 9 o’clock and it is very likely that we will have a crossover by midnight.”

In any case, he clarified that the final results are those that will be issued by the competent courts.
