The Minister of Immigration and Asylum is in Turkey, Notis Mitarakis.

Mr. Mitarakis went to the temporary accommodation structure in the earthquake-stricken Boynuyoğun area, while together with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Ismail Katakli, he monitored the extent of the destruction from a helicopter. The minister also met with his Turkish counterpart Suleiman Soylu.

Afterwards, Mr. Mitarakis will go to the border of Turkey and Syria in a refugee structure.

The specific camp, which includes a health center and a children’s creative employment center, was created for Syrian refugees, while after the devastating earthquakes it also accommodates earthquake-affected citizens. Today it hosts 11,000 people, of which 5,000 are people who found themselves there after the earthquakes.
