The prerequisites for someone to be able to vote from their place of residence
For the first time this year, Greeks abroad will be able to vote in the national elections from their place of residence.
According to information, the interest is great and the applications at apodimoi.gov.gr from Greeks abroad who want to vote without having to travel have exceeded 26,000.
The government has extended the deadline for applications by a few hours, until 12 noon today. The deadline was originally set to expire at midnight yesterday.

What is needed for the application
- Have resided a total of 2 years within the Greek Territory during the period of the last 35 years from the date of submission of the registration application
- Have submitted a tax return in the current or previous tax year.
In order to set up a polling station, at least 40 voters are needed, who have expressed their desire to vote in the same city, while the voter can at any time and up to three days before the announcement of the election suspend his registration in the special foreign electoral rolls.
