“Greek men and women, having lived through the experience of populism and lies, refuse to live them again,” the prime minister says in his message.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a message on the anniversary of the coup of April 21, 1967, via Facebook.
With references to the bloc in the Kasidiaris party, but also to the elections of May 21, Mr. Mitsotakis wrote:
“Fifty-six years since the imposition of the military dictatorship in our country, the collective memory keeps turning into a reflection on the constant dangers that besiege the Republic.
But also in honor of the fighters against tyranny who succeeded in bringing back to Greece the normality and the state that was born in it.
The memory of the suffering that April 21 brought illuminates our historical and national debt to expand the many conquests of the Post-colonial era. To overcome any weaknesses. And to keep the country on its European path and its citizens on a path of progress and prosperity.
At the same time, however, shielding the Republic against its new enemies.
The arrogance of Parliamentary Democracy is not a weakness.
That is why its just rules block the way for its subversives, whatever disguise they use.
While the Greek men and women, having lived through the experience of populism and lies, refuse to live them again.
They are honoring today’s anniversary by moving Steadily, Boldly and only Forward!”.
