“Labor May Day is a landmark day for the labor movement, it lights the way for the class struggle and the social overthrow of the rotten and barbaric capitalist system, it lights the way for the new society, socialism-communism” underlines the KKE in his announcement for Labor Day 2023.

“Despite the effort made by ND, SYRIZA, PASOK to obscure the reactionary character of capitalist development in order to manipulate the great popular discontent, they cannot hide that on the day after the elections the situation will become worse for the workers” notes, at another point, the announcement, adding that “the staffs of European Union, civil governments, as well as various international economic and banking organizations are warning that the signs of recession in sectors of the economy are growing, creating conditions for a new capitalist crisis, which will in turn have new negative consequences for the people”.

“This development objectively fuels the sharpening of anti-popular politics in Greece by whatever bourgeois government is formed after the elections on May 21” emphasizes the KKE and points out:

“There is no such thing as ‘just’, ‘people-friendly’ or ‘progressive” management of capitalist brutality, as promoted in our country by ND, SYRIZA, KINAL, MERA25, Hellenic Solution. These parties, despite any differences, coincide in the main issues that determine the people’s today and tomorrow. They express different versions of the same pernicious strategy of capital: From the “green transition” policy and the EU Recovery Fund, which is the new super-memorandum for the peoples of Europe, to the alliance with the EU and NATO, the commitments and participation of country in their dangerous plans”.

“This is the joint program of ND, SYRIZA and PASOK that will be implemented by the next government and it requires a strong labor-people’s movement to fight it” notes the KKE and emphasizes: “The dilemma that arises is relentless: Or will we continue to we count new losses and victims in the context of the policy that costs the lives and rights of the people or we will choose the path of organized struggle to overthrow this barbarity. Our lives or their profits!’

The KKE underlines that “the militant response to this dilemma with the shocking mobilizations of the workers, the people and especially the youth”, in Greece and internationally, “constitute the new hopeful element and give rise to hopes of militant upliftment and confirm that things are not “static”, that the people have not yet had their last word, as the governments and their staffs are trying to present all over Europe”.

“Capital’s anti-people strategy is uniform throughout the world, served by all bourgeois governments, center-right or center-left, one-party or cooperative. Choosing the “lesser evil” within the “one-way streets” of capital always leads to new losses.

No matter how many government announcements there are about raising workers’ incomes, no matter how many competitions are held by the parties seeking to govern again on the anti-people rails about who will give a little more, the reality is that the vicious circle of the capitalist economy, ” “crisis – development”, only adds new burdens for the workers”, notes the KKE.

“Now is the time for the workers to come forward dynamically for all their modern needs. The struggle can have results and create conditions for upliftment, when it is not trapped in the alternative scenarios of urban management, when it targets the strategy and power of capital, the rotten bourgeois state, the imperialist alliances”, the party’s statement underlines and calls “to elections of May 21, every worker must make use of his experience and strengthen the KKE”.

“No worker has reason to fear that their vote will turn into support or tolerance for whatever government emerges from the elections.

The KKE is ready, when the working class, the people choose it, to assume its responsibility in a popular government, where the power and the keys to the economy will be in the hands of the working people. The protagonists will be the workers, the youth and not the political staff of the capitalists. “So far” can be turned into a decision to fight for the only progressive way out, the fight for another power and economy, which will have at its center the satisfaction of the needs of the many” the statement further emphasizes and concludes:

“Socialism-communism, social ownership of the means of production, scientific central planning for the satisfaction of popular needs, workers’ control and participation in all organs of power lead to the well-being of the people, to the abolition of all forms of exploitation and inequality, to the peace and the progress of mankind.
