In the evaluation of the school and the educational system as well as in the individual evaluation of the teachers, the Minister of Education Niki Kerameos was mentioned today through SKAI.

“The evaluation of the teachers had to be done 41 years ago, since 1981”, said the minister, pointing out that it focuses on both the scientific and the pedagogical part.

Referring to the evaluation of the school that began three years ago, Mrs. Kerameos said that the government appealed 9 times to the Court of Justice to be implemented.

Mrs. Kerameos also focused on the right of each student to choose whether to attend a private or public university.

“Without having opened Article 16, the new possibilities given help the universities to improve”, added Ms. Kerameos, giving as an example the first English-speaking Medicine at AUTH and the English-speaking Medicine of Athens.

Regarding yesterday’s ministerial decision on the internal ERASMUS, he said that for the first time students are given the opportunity to attend for an academic semester courses of other schools in the same or a different scientific field of study than the one they have chosen.

Referring to the phenomena of violence observed recently in school premises, the minister stated that this is a global phenomenon and all the actions taken are aimed at preventing such situations.

“When we went to the ministry, in 2019, we had 1,600 psychologists and social workers and today we have 3,200,” said Mrs. Kerameos, adding that among the measures that have been taken is the special training of teachers to detect and prevent nuggets of violence, as well as the recent vote in the Parliament of a special electronic platform that enables children to
they report such incidents even on an anonymous basis.

He clarified that on this particular platform, the complainant should say which school he is referring to but there is no other indication of the identity of the complainant, not even the IP indication.

Mrs. Kerameos also made a special reference to the inclusion in the school’s compulsory timetable of a lesson on sexuality, respect for others and respect for diversity. “All these initiatives are to prevent such situations of violence”, he said characteristically.
