In Kefalonia on Thursday, in Achaia and Ilia on Friday – In Chalkida on Saturday and Sunday in Elefsina
By Penelope Galliou
He continuously continues his tours throughout Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis and after yesterday’s visit to North Piraeus where ND failed to win the first place in 2019, as it was eight points behind SYRIZA, today it is the turn of the single-seat district Kefalonia. One of the “difficult” regions that the ND has at the heart of its strategy, since out of the seven mono-regional ones in 2019, Piraeus managed to “paint” them all blue, but even though in the five mono-regional regions it had managed to gather a percentage of more than 40%, in Kefalonia and Samos it had a lead of a little more than five points.
In this context, the ND “steps on the gas” on the one hand with the selection on the Ionian island of the candidacy of the professor of the University of Athens and former Minister of Rural Development Napoleon Maraveias and on the other hand with the choice of the prime minister to attend and tour himself on the island, where he is expected to visit Argostoli and Lixouri where he will meet with actors and citizens of the region and talk with them, posing the dilemmas of the ballot box on May 21 and unfolding the post-election plan of the ND and its government program for the next four years 2023-2027.
Next stop tomorrow, Fridayfor the prime minister Achaia. A region that in 2019 was painted pink by SYRIZA with a difference of about eight seats from ND and this result the blue faction seeks to overturn in the upcoming elections. The prime minister will tour the region and in the afternoon is expected to speak at a pre-election rally at the EAP indoor stadium in Agios Dionysios, Patras.
In the morning, the prime minister is expected to make a “passage” through it as well Ilia where yes there the ND had a lead in 2019 with about two points over SYRIZA, but in the coming elections we have a “change of baton” in the blue candidacy of Kostas Tzavara, who was elected in the region from 2007 onwards, after his departure from blue ballot, Dimitris Avramopoulos takes the baton.
On Saturday, the prime minister will attend the opening of her War Museum Chalkida, while a speech will be held, the focus of which is expected to be the course of the “Evia After” plan for the regeneration of the northern part of the island, after the disastrous fires of August 2021, with 71 costed projects, from reforestation to road works, professional training programs and upgrading of the island’s Health Centers. Evia is another “bet” for the ND, which narrowly prevailed in the 2019 elections with a difference of just over 1.5% over SYRIZA, but succeeding then, a major reversal reversing the lead of SYRIZA which in September 2015 had a lead of 16 points.
The current week’s tours are expected to close with a final stop on Eleusiswhich is European Capital of Culture for 2023, where he will tour the city and talk to actors and citizens.
A point of reference for the government and the prime minister is also the Elefsina Shipyards, which throughout its four-year term of office the government supported the entire shipbuilding and repair sector of the country with interventions which, among other things, saved the emblematic shipyards of Elefsina, with the return of workers in their jobs and investments of millions of euros.
