“Mr. Tsipras will repeal the “Hatzidakis law”, as he told us yesterday in Piraeus. Really what will it abolish?’ declares the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, in a post on his personal Twitter account, and wonders:

  • Will it abolish the Digital Job Card?
  • Will it abolish new and more parental leave? So, will it abolish paternity leave, new father protection from dismissal for 6 months, 2 months paid parental leave for both parents?
  • Will it remove the right to disconnect from telecommuting?
  • Will it remove the severance pay of tradespeople from being equal to that of employees?
  • Will it abolish trade union rights for self-employed delivery and courier workers and the obligation for companies to provide them with uniforms and equipment?
  • Will it repeal the measures brought in by the same law to combat violence and sexual harassment in the workplace?
  • Will he make the Labor Inspectorate again subordinate to the ministers by an Independent Authority?
  • Mr. Tsipras also insists on his funny declaration that he will supposedly enshrine the 8-hour shift. Let him finally read article 55 of the “three-damned Hatzidakis law”, to see that it is guaranteed in the most explicit way”.

As Mr. Hatzidakis points out, “the matter is simple. The less reality suits SYRIZA, the worse for reality!”

“Over the last four years, we have ‘destroyed’ the narrative of the Left that it supposedly only cares about the working and the unemployed and we are implementing a modern policy, which has resulted in reducing unemployment from 17.5% to 10.9%, to create 300,000 additional jobs and increase the minimum wage from 650 to 780 euros. So, we give the big words and outdated doctrines to Mr. Tsipras and move forward with a social policy with results!” underlines the Minister of Labor.
