With humor, sharp edges and a pleasant mood, the political leaders appeared before the start of the debate at ERT building.

“I wish we could have a meaningful discussion and talk about the future of our country, said Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis coming to the Radio House of ERT for the debate of the political leaders. “I want to believe that citizens will get the answers they expect despite the strict framework.” “We’ll talk about the rest after the elections”said the prime minister.

“It is a shame that it is not done with greater ease of dialogue. The conditions decided by the inter-party committee are very strict. It’s a shame, but I hope that the Greek people, even in this way, even with parallel positions, will draw wiser conclusions today” stressed the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras.

“The Greek people will decide on May 21 about the changes that our country needs. We have submitted a program of major changes, which create conditions of social justice. It is unimaginable that after 15 years of economic crisis, thousands of young people continue to leave abroad and of course inequalities are galloping”, said the president of PASOK – KINAL Nikos Androulakis. He added: “The country needs a strong social state and sustainable development of many and sustainable jobs and not the development of Mr. Mitsotakis (…) We want development with extroversion and not the country becoming a giant hotel. Whenever necessary we attack, when necessary we defend, but attack is necessary. I’m moderate and I don’t like you arguing for no reason.”

“We will hold a pre-election debate in a good atmosphere”, the general secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE emphasized initially. Dimitris Koutsoubas, upon his arrival at ERT. He even commented on the fact that there were many cameras at the entrance to the radio station. Asked to comment on wearing a tie today, he replied that sometimes he wears ties and other times not, while adding “and especially tonight when everyone will be gathered, let’s be a little sulupo” he concluded with humor.

“Unfortunately, in today’s telefight, with the responsibility of the other parties, there was a teleparallel dialogue. From the beginning we said that we want journalists to ask their questions freely, so that the Greek people can draw their own conclusions. The others – probably out of fear – wanted teleparallel procedure. Let’s see if the Greek will finally understand who is capable of governing and who is just capable of cowardly parallel monologues”, said the president of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopouloswho was the first to arrive at the ERT facilities.

“I hope that serious issues will emerge, the continuation on the screen” emphasized Yanis Varoufakis, adding that the context of the debate “is unacceptable. We will do everything we can to inform the people about the positions of the parties”, said the head of MeRA25.
