“This pre-election period has given us the opportunity to draw clear dividing lines between our own political proposal and that of our opponents and above all to focus on the problems that interest and concern you,” continued the prime minister.
“There is still one week left to celebrate a great electoral victory”, stressed Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis at a gathering of citizens at Laurelwho offered him flowers.
“Thank you very much for the gardenia, it was – I must tell you – the favorite flower of Marika Mitsotakis and I want to say happy birthday to all the mothers who are celebrating today”, said Mr. Mitsotakis.
“This pre-election period gave us the opportunity to draw clear lines dividing linesbetween our own political proposal and that of our opponents and above all to focus on the problems that interest and concern you”, continued the Prime Minister.
At the same time, he referred to what happened on previous four years in the midst of very great difficulties.
“We laid the foundations for the Greece of the next four years. A Greece, which first and foremost must be able to produce wealth and prosperity for Greek men and women”, stressed Mr. Mitsotakis.
Referring to Lavrio he said that it is a place which was identified with industrial production, with claims of the labor movement and at the same time with the deindustrialization and decline of the last decades.
“And yet, here today in Lavrio something very important is happening. And what is being done does not only concern the service sector. Yes, my mayor, you can be absolutely sure that the marina here in Lavrio will be expanded, we will support her. Lavrio should become the first yachting gate of Attica. Why; For the simple reason that from here the distances to go, especially to the Cyclades, are much closer, so this is something that everyone is looking for”, pointed out Mr. Mitsotakis and noted that around yachting a series of other activities that give life not only to the port, but also to many professions around this sector which is so important for the Greek economy and Greek tourism.
“You see, however, that suddenly we went from yachting to boat building. Because, indeed, it was strange how a country with such a long shipbuilding tradition, a country that has the most beautiful seas in the whole Mediterranean, why should we import inflatables and not be able to build them here?
We proved that we can do that too. As we can produce many things in our country. Thus Lavrio suddenly regains the productive base it had and lost. With other conditions, however, and with another possibility. To produce products that are extroverted and exportable”, he added.
And he added: “The companies that come here and invest in Lavrio are companies that, as a rule, offer much better jobs, higher wages, better working conditions for employees. Why am I saying this? To demonstrate through the example of Lavrios that the way to bring better and well-paid jobs to our homeland is none other than the path we have already followed”.
Mr. Mitsotakis spoke about the many private and public investments, the best jobs, well-paid workers in better conditions with a digital work card now everywhere, in a creative environment where businesses do well and workers can do even better.
“We are on very good terms with her Local government and finally we know that many problems must be solved locally. The state cannot come and do everything, but through good cooperative relations we can build a real future of optimism and prosperity for the local communities. This is our goal, our central goal for the next four years”, stressed the Prime Minister.
In addition, for the second four-year term, he reiterated that the complete restructuring of the National Health System is his personal bet and noted: “I know, yes, that somewhere in Eastern Attica we owe a hospital.”
Also referred to recruitment of 10,000 nurses and doctors within the next four years, he said there will be a strong emphasis on the personal doctor, “MyHealth” and preventive examinations.
At this point in his speech, the Prime Minister thanked MEP Stelios Kymbouropoulos for what he did and is doing in the European Parliament.
“I’m tired of hearing that others are more sensitive than us. Some others are, he says, more progressive than us, just because they are leftists. No friends, we are the real faction of progress and social cohesion. We must finally speak with deeds and not with words”, continued Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
And he added: “So, these are some nuggets from our plan for the next four years.”
Additionally, he mentioned the programs to support working women.
“We worked very hard to bring Greece to the situation it is today. Is it heaven? No. But it is a much better country than it was in 2019. I don’t think any bona fide citizen can dispute that,” the prime minister said, adding that this course is not certain to continue if there was a change in the country’s political events. .
“That is why I insist so much on the criticality of these elections. This work that we have done must be continued and intensified. In eight years, if we had eight years of government – which we will have – Greece will really be a different country. I am asking you to give me this possibility, this work that we did together with our staff to be able to continue it, to complete it.
Because then really the changes we will have launched will have taken root to such an extent that no one will be able to reverse them. I am sure, friends, that we will be given this opportunity. I am sure, this important day celebrated by half of Greece, Constantine and Eleni, including my son, will be a day in which we will be able to celebrate the great victory of the New Republic, which will also be a victory of Greece” , he underlined.
Closing in his speech he said: “Let’s go and find the last votes that are left, let’s fight until the last moment. Elections are decided at the end. We have endurance. We are marathoners, we are not sprinters, but we will do the final sprint this week and we will be the big winners.”
