The secretary of MeRA25, Yanis Varoufakis, fell into an epic verbal slip during his pre-election speech in Heraklion, Crete.

While speaking to the gathered supporters of MeRA25, he suddenly addressed them as “companions, comrades of SYRIZA”, causing first a “numbness” in the audience and then laughter.

“Friends, fellow travelers, comrades SYRIZA”, characteristically said the secretary of MeRA25 and continued in a monologue: “SYRIZA…”

However, he himself did not overcome it, but hastened to give an explanation for this verbal slip of his.

“You saw; Have you seen what happens to someone when they are burned? Do you know what it means to have joined SYRIZA, to have believed in him, to have given your best, to have come to the point of trusting your comrades with your life? Entering the Eurogroup, fighting the good fight for everyone, and realizing that your comrades themselves go to Draghi and say “don’t listen to him, we’ll figure it out”. I have my wounds too.”
