Mr. Tsipras underlines SYRIZA’s commitments for “clear economic and social support measures for Pontic Hellenism
The president of SYRIZA PS, Alexis Tsipras, points out his commitments to Pontian Hellenism, with a post on Twitter for the Pontian Genocide Remembrance Day.
“May 19: We honor the day of remembrance of the victims of the Pontian Genocide”, says the president of SYRIZA PS and notes in particular:
“We commit to:
– For the establishment of a permanent and permanent committee in the Parliament for the international recognition of the Genocide of Hellenism in the period 1914-1923.
– For initiatives of the “Committee for processing proposals for the preservation of the Historical Memory of the Greeks of Pontus”.
– To strengthen the learning of the History of Pontic Hellenism in school books and active support of the Chair of Pontic Studies at AUTH.
– To strengthen the fight at an international and bilateral diplomatic level, for the protection of Christian monuments in Turkey.
– For a decision to honor May 19 universally and irrevocably.”
Mr. Tsipras also underlines SYRIZA’s commitments for “clear economic and social support measures for Pontic Hellenism:
First, payment of the National Pension to the expatriates of the former Soviet Union after 15 years of permanent residence in Greece. With full payment of the allowance for uninsured elderly expatriates.
Second, a new regulation that erases fines, surcharges and any kind of interest charged on the original loans received by returning expatriates. The rest of the loan is arranged for repayment in 240 interest-free installments of up to 100 euros per month.
Third, simplification of citizenship procedures based on European standards. Because, among other things, it is unacceptable for the families of Greek returnees to suffer with citizenship issues.”
