With a provocative announcement, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reacts to statements of the political leadership of Greece for the Remembrance Day for the Genocide of Pontic Hellenism, speaking of “false claims” by the Greek authorities and “attempts to distort historical facts”.

As reported by the SKAI correspondent, Manolis Kostidis, in the announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Defense it is stated: “We completely reject the claims of the Greek authorities about the “Ponto”. As these claims, which are far from any kind of logic and reasoning, are nothing more than an attempt to distort historical facts.

All the statements of the Greek politicians, which are not based on any historical information and on any document, they are lies which aim to deceive the Greek people and are an example. Those who seek a shameful reality in the past of the Turkish nation can achieve nothing but deceive themselves!

Those who dream 100 years ahead should first look in the mirror. In this regard, Greek politicians should face the bloody atrocities of their ancestors in Tripoli during the process of rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, of which they were subjects, and during the attempt to occupy Anatolia between 1919-1922, and with the in the same way they will have to answer what they did in Anatolia. Consequently, those who do not want to see the atrocities and massacres in their dirty dates, will not be able to achieve any results from the dirty perception games with which they attempt to cover it up and not will they ever be able to absolve themselves of their responsibilities before history.”

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a provocative statement yesterday, to which the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Arnaoutis, responded: “All countries are proud of their history and all are evaluated based on their contribution to world culture. Greece is one of them. But History also hides dark moments that should neither be forgotten nor written off nor falsified. The Pontian Genocide is undoubtedly one of them. Only by facing the historical truth and acknowledging their mistakes can countries work together to create a better future. In such a context, extremes have no place.”
