Prime Minister Ioannis Sharmas visited the ERT Radio Building in Agia Paraskevi. He was welcomed by the president of ERT Konstantinos Zoulas, executives of the public broadcasting administration and employees.
Mr. Sharmas, after pointing out that ERT is a body directly supervised by the prime minister, underlined its crucial role for the functioning of the Republicthe need – especially during pre-election periods – for balance in news coverage but also the obligation of journalists and contributors to reflect on their responsibility when speaking publicly through a public medium.
Mr. Zoulas took the Prime Minister on a tour of the new studios and facilities of the radio station, presented him with cutting-edge technologies and the development program of the public enterprise.
The prime minister paid special attention to the operation of ERTnews, the 24-hour news channel, the free content platform ERTflix. but also of the radio station TRITO MAESTRO, and praised their value as public goods.
On the occasion of ERT, Prime Minister Ioannis Sarmas referred to good practices in the public sector – both at the level of logistical infrastructure and at the level of human factors and creativity – and expressed the hope that public television would acquire an English-language channel, so that the voice of Greece to be heard worldwide, in an international language.
