“He passed away Theodoros Pangalosa politician with a long career, who has left an indelible mark on public life with his tireless struggles for democracy”, says in a statement president of PASOK – KINAL, Nikos Androulakis.

“He was one of the leading figures of the student movement of the 60s, through his activity in Lambrakis Youth, the United Democratic Left (EDA) and the traditional Left.

During the seven-year dictatorship it played, always at the forefront, a decisive role in the resistance against the junta, with reference to France and other European countries.

He enlisted in the Patriotic Liberation Front (PAM), led by Mikis Theodorakis, and collaborated with other resistance organizations in Greece and abroad.

In 1974, after the Postcolonization and the establishment of PASOK, he participated from the first moment in the Movement’s struggles and played a leading role in the effort to develop PASOK and the Democratic Progressive Party into a strong current of social and political majority.

Th. Pangalos, from 1981 to 2012, was always elected first deputy in the Rest of Attica, based in Elefsina, the city he loved and identified with. Throughout this period, he offered his services with vigour, integrity and efficiency from positions of government responsibility and had a special contribution to the equal and active participation of Greece in European integration.

I express my sincere condolences to his family, wife and children”, notes Mr. Androulakis.
