Answer to the prime minister on the issue of the open intervention of the Turkish consulate in Komotini in favor of the SYRIZA parliamentary candidate in Rodopi, Ferhat Özgiur
Answer to the prime minister’s interview where he raised the issue of the open intervention of the Turkish consulate in Komotini in favor of the SYRIZA MP candidate in Rodopi, Ferhat Özgür, SYRIZA issued a statement
“The ND and Mr. Mitsotakis, guided by the arrogance and unprecedented arrogance of not tolerating any other color on the electoral map, do not hesitate to even play the dangerous card of targeting and dividing Greek citizens, blatantly underestimating the democratic vote of members of the Muslim minority.
Treating the Greek Muslim citizens of the Rhodopes as agents of a foreign power and questioning their democratic will is a profoundly dangerous practice, which evokes the worst moments of division, offends the constitutional principle of equality and equality for all citizens, and poses serious national risks.
We call on the ND not to persist for vote-hunting reasons in a nationally damaging stance, insulting Greek citizens because they voted for the SYRIZA-PS MP and not the ND candidate.
Let them look for the reasons for this choice not in fake news and phobic syndromes, but in the fact that unlike the ND, SYRIZA-PS has clear programmatic positions and has pursued clear policies for the necessary democratic reforms in Thrace and always towards unacceptable interference by Turkey in our internal affairs.
And if they cannot understand this, let them at least understand the self-evident: that all they achieve by dividing the minority and the local society as a whole is to serve the plans of Turkey and the Turkish President,” the announcement reads.
