In the framework of the visits made by New Democracy ahead of the June 25 elections, a delegation led by the former Government Representative and candidate for Member of Parliament of Fthiotida Yiannis Oikonomou and the former Deputy Minister of Tourism and candidate for Member of Parliament for East Attica Sofia Zaharaki visited the prefecture of Evrytania.

During the tour, Mr. Economou spoke about New Democracy’s programmatic positions ahead of the June 25 elections, and spoke with residents of the Fourna, Krikello, Megalo Chorio and Agios Nikolaos regions, while he met with the representatives of authorities and agencies in the region .

In his statements immediately after the end of the tour, Mr. Economou emphasized: “In Evrytania today we had the opportunity to talk with residents from Fourna, Krikello, Megalo Chorio, Agios Nikolaos and of course the capital, Karpenisi.

We talked about the situation in the country after the May 21 elections and ahead of the June 25 elections. The ballot box is empty and fellow citizens must attend the new electoral process en masse to emphatically confirm the result of the first one, as this is the only way the upward trajectory of the country can continue.
We discussed the possibilities that exist in order for the young people of Evrytania to stay in their place through the development of the tourist activity, but also the utilization of the forest wealth, always respecting the environment.

The only clear governance proposal goes through the safe self-sufficient Government of the New Democracy with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis so that the Greeks in the large urban centers and our Region continue to march on the path of advancement, so that the self-sufficient Greece of next day to star”.

For her part, Mrs. Zaharaki visited the settlements of Raptopoulo, Valaura, Western Fragista, the areas of Granitsa Paleokatouna and Krenti where she spoke with residents of the area about the New Democracy plan for the next four years, stating among other things: “The Western Evrytania and the Municipality of Agrafon is a blessed place with an immediate need to improve the access infrastructure, continuous care for the issues of education and health as well as creating conditions for staying or attracting residents in an area where the beauty of nature captivates you. At the same time, however, the demographic problem and the flight of young people are deeply troubling. During our tour of the villages of the Municipality of Agrafon, we talked with the residents, after thanking them for the substantial support they showed to New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the May 21 elections, and respectfully but also fully aware of the responsibility, we asked them to confirm this positive result in the June 25 elections. We referred in detail to the 90 million euro special development program of Agrafo, which for the first time sets the mountainous area as a distinct pilot policy, a policy that can be a model for implementation in other mountainous parts of our country.

I thank the people who make up the ballot of the law, Mr. Thanos Tsantila, coordinator of the elections of Evrytania and also Mrs. Katerina Kalantzi, deputy regional governor of Central Greece, with whom we toured the Municipality of Agrafon.

Special thanks to the candidate Member of Parliament of Fthiotida Mr. Economou who at the same time toured the villages of the Municipality of Karpenisi and with whom we met the citizens of Karpenisi last night in the city center. With us is Mr. Manolis Grafakos, general coordinator of the elections in Central Greece.

With an appetite for work and a disposition for politics, as a result, we move steadily, boldly, forward and for Evrytania”.

Mr. Oikonomou and Mr. Zacharakis, accompanied by the members of the DEEP and politicians, met with party officials, visited local shops where they spoke with businessmen and workers and exchanged views with representatives of authorities and institutions in the region while their tour ended in a joint speech in the area of Karpenisi.
