Regarding the possibility of New Democracy not achieving self-reliance, Mr. Androulakis commented: “New Democracy’s program has nothing to do with PASOK’s program. So, there is no co-government scenario with New Democracy.”
The President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, gave an interview to the KONTRA TV station, focusing on the discrediting of the National Health System by the New Democracy due to the last two incidents of deaths in Kos and N. Makri
“New Democracy essentially gives 2% of the Recovery Fund’s resources for services and logistical infrastructure and an additional 2% for the energy upgrade of hospitals. Countries with similar problems, such as Portugal, Spain and Italy, channel 8-11% of resources to health. We propose to give 8-10% because the NHS is in dire straits. I visited the EKAB administration today and they told me that 700-1,000 rescuers are needed. Sixty-seven points of the EKAV throughout Greece are obliged to serve the incidents of the whole day with just one ambulance. In other words, they work three eight-hour shifts with an ambulance, emphasized Mr. Androulakis, making special reference to the islands that welcome thousands of tourists.
Responding to K. Mitsotakis who characterized the financial proposals of PASOK KINAL as a “nobel of incoherence” in finance, Nikos Androulakis stated that “I cannot insult him in this way. I cannot call him neither irrelevant nor incoherent. He is both relevant and he knows what he’s doing. He serves 1,000 families. Mr. Mitsotakis has a tax plan and strategy, where his growth, Recovery Fund and tax priorities serve 1,000 families, who control the wealth in the country and believe that the best solution for to be managed, it is Mr. Mitsotakis. We have a different view on things.”
Regarding the possibility of New Democracy not achieving self-reliance, Mr. Androulakis commented: “New Democracy’s program has nothing to do with PASOK’s program. So, there is no co-government scenario with New Democracy. The people voted and gave a large percentage to the New Republic, something that no one expected after the corruption phenomena, -Patsis, Nikolaou-, the interceptions that have exposed the country internationally, a parastatal under the Maximos Palace, social inequalities, inability to support the welfare state, lack of a sustainable development, 50 billion euros of new debt, 10 billion euros of direct assignments. I expected Mr. Mitsotakis to pay for all this in the “treasury” of the elections. Not only did he not pay them, but he increased his rate.”
At the same time, he strongly criticized Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA.
“Mr. Tsipras said that it was the fault of the KKE and PASOK that it did not go well and the map turned blue. The map did not turn blue 15 days ago, it happened in 2019. In the municipal and regional elections where if you exclude Crete with a notable PASOK executive Mr. Arnautakis, New Democracy won twelve regions after 4.5 years of SYRIZA-ANEL government . The same in the European elections. The same in the nationals. The fact that for four years this phenomenon was not reversed but escalated, goes to say that someone is responsible. And I believe that the opposition did not do its job properly. That is why I say that a progressive, reliable opposition is needed in order to have an alternative and for the Greek people to choose not based on the fear that New Democracy is selling “for the worst to come” but based on the hope for the best we can achieve” said the Mr. Androulakis.
He concluded by calling on “all progressive citizens to support this new effort we are making. It’s an effort to have a strong progressive voice in Parliament to stop what seems to be brewing: an omnipotence of New Democracy, which I believe will not help the country move forward.”
