Kyriakos Mitsotakis reminded that the New Democracy government from 2020 brought reduction of VAT on coffee and catering, significantly supporting businesses. However, he explained that this reduction, according to ELSTAT data, “it has not been passed on to the consumer at all, which is why we are very reluctant to reduce the VAT on food and fuel, because we will lose significant revenue without necessarily falling in prices.”

At the same time, he mentioned in the video that the government has taken measures and aims to take more, “which reduce the costs of Greek businesses and improve their productivity” which he mentioned in detail.
