“I’m fine. A bit tired after repeated campaign speeches. Even covid couldn’t keep up with my pace. It’s an infection. It’s still here, it’s not gone. Today we have the medicines. I believe that just like for the flu, we will be vaccinated once a year”he said speaking on the show “Let’s go Danae” in MEGA o Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He also said that the ballot box is empty and should the citizens vote again and that he feels satisfied with it a high percentage taken by the NDa rate that he said increases his responsibility to implement his program.

“We need a stable government”

“It is certainly not a blank order to consider that the result has been decided”, he continued while regarding the possibility of third elections he said: “In the elections we vote for a government. If the electoral law was valid in the previous elections, we would already have a government. We have to vote again and we need the next day a stable government. There is no possibility of forming a coalition government. It is the logical conclusion when PASOK says that it will not co-govern”.

Regarding the National Health Service, Mr. Mitsotakis said that he had said that it was a priority long before the recent tragic incidents. On this, he referred to the main points of the ND program for health and the reform of the National Health Service. Among other things, he referred to the “Oikothen” program, about which he was informed in the morning at the “Agios Savvas” hospital.

“It is a small example of the many good things that are being done. I want to make sure of one thing. I will personally deal with the project new NSS»he noted, stressing that the challenge is great.

For debate he said it was a good first step, despite the limitations of the process. “I think that useful conclusions were drawn. It will happen again. We will also add a free question from the journalists. They must be able and willing to squeeze us and I believe they did. We will talk about our plan for the next day and make it clear that the election result is not prejudged. Citizens have sent a clear message but it needs to be reaffirmed. Our opponent is the sunbed, the beach, complacency. The citizens know very well why they are voting and they are asking us to move faster.”

Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the possibility of it happening debate with the opposition he said it always happens with all political leaders. “They know me and Mr. Tsipras. To a certain extent, the citizens are tired of the continuous election contests. I don’t think they will learn anything new by watching a debate between the two,” he added.

For televised appearances of political leaders on entertainment shows said that he had done so since the 2019 election. “I believe that in-core entertainment shows are deeply political shows,” he added, noting that they bring up deeply political issues that are difficult to bring up in more classic political shows.

“I think it is important for the citizens to understand that we are outside of politics. Let’s go out more relaxed,” he added.

For Tik Tok Mr. Mitsotakis stated: “It is not my new image. Tik Tok showed who I really am, that’s who I am. On TV you see me in a tie. Tik Tok is primarily about the youth but it is not just about image. Young people didn’t vote for us just because of Tik Tok but because we talked about the issues that concern them. I really enjoy Tik Tok and it gives me the opportunity to make fun of myself, make a few jokes, and in this way take a piece of the intensity of the work.”

Asked about how it was at school he said he was a very good student but not the typical nerd. “At school we did what I think children do. And I’m glad I’ve kept good friendships since school.”

“If you leafed through our scrapbook in 1986, you’d find lots of interesting photos showing normal school life outside of classes,” he said.

For the fact that as a teenager he had a prime minister dad he mentioned that “you have a sense of responsibility and I’ve always tried to balance.”

And he added: “I was in Mykonos at the time when my father was prime minister. One night we might have consumed more alcohol. A lady who said ‘sign not to build a new port’, and I signed and then she asked me ‘did you sign not to build a new port?’ “What can I say..”… I live this with my children too. It is important to explain to our children that they should never step on privilege and be twice as humble precisely because they are the Prime Minister’s children. “You know who I am” is over. I would never let my kids do that and I’m glad they’ve absolutely embraced it.”

When asked how he is as a father, Mr. Mitsotakis said that he and his wife have an excellent relationship with their children. “They are very open with me. I have a great relationship. If you ask me why I am proud of my life, it is not about my life, it is about my children. I like that I have an open relationship with my children, that they criticize me. And they come and tell me this can’t be done, you have to fix this. I try to explain that sometimes there are not easy solutions to all problems,” he noted.

She also mentioned that we should be open to criticism, it should be bona fide and factual and that’s why she doesn’t respond to comments on social media. “Obviously I accept the well-intentioned criticism. Both my kids and my wife can be very strict especially when it comes to behavior. This job is difficult, it has a lot of power, it has the part of glory and visibility, but when the lights go out, things are very difficult, we manage crises, I have to face the big difficulties”, he added.

About the relationship with his wife

Asked about his relationship with his wife Mr. Mitsotakis said: “We went through great difficulties. For years we were not together. We overcame them by not blaming each other exclusively. You must at the same time be completely devoted to the children. We gave time to time, we never said bad things about each other and when we got back together we were able to put our relationship back on a different footing and we are better than ever. Sometimes before making final decisions one has to give a little more time, things are not always better looking for another alternative. We also worked with experts. “I try to have a normal life outside of work”

When asked if he does things that people might not imagine, he answered that “I am a person who tries to have a normal life outside of his work. In my free time I’m pretty predictable. I like to spend time with my family, I like to do sports, now and then I still go cycling. A week ago Mareva got mad at me and told me about the prime minister of Belgium who was cycling and fell. I’m not saying I’m doing dangerous things, but I won’t go into protected glass.”

Asked if he has ever sent a message to the wrong recipient, he answered in the affirmative. “The point is to understand it. In what app there is the possibility to delete it”, he said.

When asked if he has a nickname referred to the ‘Coolies’ report and stated: ‘Used somewhat pejoratively. There was targeting. This is all in politics. The world has turned its back on toxicity. Society does not want toxicity and wants to see things more optimistically. The ballot box was not only silent, it sent a message of normalcy and de-dramatization. People don’t want any more fights and fights on TV.”

“I didn’t start with the dream of becoming prime minister”

“I never started with the dream of becoming a politician and certainly not with the expectation of becoming prime minister. With my father’s experience, I had become bitter and said as a life decision that politics is not for me that’s why I worked for ten years before reassessing. I have worked and learned how the economy works and something more important, to have a boss and to be consistent. To the children who want to get involved in politics, I tell them to do well, but to have worked before,” he said at another point of the interview.

“When you enter politics with the name “Mitsotakis” it has an advantage but you also gain enemies. The first election in 2004 was relatively easy for me but after that things got more difficult. At one point there was a reasonable reaction of society to what we call political families. I think that after 20 years in politics and 4 years as prime minister, I have managed to make people see me as Kyriakos and that the fact that I come from a political family is not an essential criterion,” he said.

Asked if he had to give ministries to the other political leaders based on their character what would he do, he said he will answer Tik Tok. “I ask for the right to think about it and come back,” he noted.
