Negatively commented on the confrontation between the president of ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, about Rodopi and role of the Turkish consulate in the electoral process, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, calling on them to “leave dangerous adventures”, as “this is a sensitive national issue”.

Mr. Androulakis speaking to Mega said that “there should not be a member of the Greek Parliament who challenges the Treaty of Lausanne, Christian or Muslim. The Treaty of Lausanne, which refers to a Muslim and not a “Turkish” minority, is what has determined peace and prosperity in the wider region for many years. Anyone who questions it is working against our country.”

Second point, the president of KINAL pointed out that “SYRIZA must answer why didn’t he pass the law to change the mufti Last summer. And third point, I never expected Mrs. Bakoyannis, with the experience she has, to go to Thrace and speak to Greek citizens, regardless of whether they are Christian or Muslim, as a right-wing politician of the 1960s. The reason I heard in the video posted it is offensive for the whole of the Greek people and I believe that Mrs. Bakoyannis must also reform during the day”.

Afterwards, the president of PASOK-KINAL emphasized the initiatives of PASOK, timeless: “PASOK broke down the bars in 1995. PASOK created the law of 5 per thousand and Greek Muslims entered the universities and within 20 years, with official data that I have, the number of scientists from Greek universities in the Muslim minority of the Rhodope increased fivefold.”

Regarding the possibility that New Democracy will not achieve self-reliance in the upcoming elections, Nikos Androulakis ruled out any case of cooperation. “Our programs diverge to an absolute degree, so a co-government scenario with New Democracy does not exist. I believe that the result of the elections shows that the role of PASOK should be the reliable strong opposition, the strong progressive force”, he noted and recalled: “On May 14, Mr. Mitsotakis said that he has nothing to discuss with PASOK, because it is an “anti-reform force”. Mr. Mitsotakis came to say that the party that kept the country in the euro zone is an anti-reform force – when in 2010 he himself supported everything Mr. Tsipras did until they conquered power – when all the reforms in the country such as ASEP, the independent Authorities, Clarity, everything that had to do with meritocracy, the strengthening of institutions and self-government is the work of this party. Is PASOK an anti-reform force? When did New Democracy support a reform? He has always been against major reforms.”

Also, the president of PASOK-KINAL aimed his arrows at the ND for the deconstruction of the NHS. “I am being lied to by the New Democracy because I often mention the official figures of the OECD, which record that the Greek people are third in private spending in the European Union. Only Bulgaria and Lithuania surpass us. The day before yesterday I looked at the data again and we moved up to second place. So we have another plan. Our priority is the regeneration of the National Health System, permanent positions for doctors and health workers, their inclusion in the heavy and unhealthy and a strong primary care network”, he pointed out and added:

“Where will you find the money? The Recovery Fund was made for the pandemic. It was not made to be shared among oligarchs. The pandemic with the thousands of dead gave birth to a great need. The largest percentage of the Recovery Fund, and not the 2-4% that New Democracy gives, but 8-10%, should have been given to public health. You cannot welcome a million tourists to Kos, the local population expect high-quality services and have an EKAB ambulance. But he chose to hire a thousand for the university police, which has disappeared.”

Finally, Mr. Androulakis underlined that the cost of living must fall, especially when it comes to rents. “That is why we have announced a program of social housing and with tax incentives and reconstruction incentives to include closed houses in the program, in order to rent them at a very low cost to new couples”, concluded the president of PASOK-KINAL.
