The hope that “the Turkish authorities will change their attitude towards the Greek minority in Turkey and will implement, without exception, all that is provided for in the Lausanne Treaty for minorities, in compliance with the international conventions on the protection of human rights,” she said. Referring to the actions of the Imbria Association, she underlined that their initiatives, under the guidance of the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew, contribute decisively to the strengthening of the presence of the Imbrians, the claim and protection of their rights and the improvement of their rights.

“In particular, your contribution to the reopening of the expatriate schools of all levels in Imvros has led to the repatriation of Imbrians to their island. Thanks to your efforts, the Greek families of the island work in their place, give birth to children, build a hopeful future. We all hope that this course will continue fruitfully in the years to come, with the aim of revitalizing the Greek minority in its ancestral land, “said Ms. Sakellaropoulou.

Concluding, the President of the Republic congratulated the Imbria Association for its important work and wholeheartedly wished “a good year with health, happiness and love”.
