Makis Voridis and Anna Michele Asimakopoulou headed the ND echelon that visited Grevena and Florina
Two day visit in the prefectures of Grevena and Florina held a delegation headed by the former Minister of the Interior, Eastern Attica MP candidate Makis Voridis and MEP Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou, as part of the ND’s visits ahead of the June 25 elections. During the first day of the tour in the prefecture of Grevena, Mr. Voridis and Ms. Asimakopoulou, accompanied by the candidates for parliament, the president of the DEEP and the members of the local organizations met with party officials, visited local shops, where they talked to businessmen and workers and exchanged views with representatives of authorities and agencies in the region, conveying the government plan of New Democracy for the next four years. Specifically, the executives visited the areas of Deskati, Karpero, Knidis, Kivoto, Rodies. The program of the visit was concluded with an open speech held in the city of Grevena, in the presence of a large number of people.
On the second day of their tour in Florina, Mr. and Mrs. Voridis and Asimakopoulou, visited the municipal market of Amyntaio, where they spoke with professionals and consumers, met with members of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of the area, participated in an extended meeting with stakeholders at Amyntaio Town Hall, visited the industrial area and saw the Bellis and Tottis units up close, discussed with citizens in the settlements of Ammochori and Melitis while they also visited the metropolitan of Florini, Prespa and Eordaia etc. Theoklitos. The executives’ program concluded with an open speech in the city of Florina.
In his statements immediately after the end of the visits, the former minister of the interior and candidate for Eastern Attica parliament, Mr. Voridis, emphasized: “We met closely and discussed with citizens of the two prefectures, with professionals and executives, recording issues that have to do with their development but also highlighting the particular characteristics of each one. Of course, our main issue was the issue of the June 25 elections, they were the big issues we have to resolve at the central political level and the main dispute is to have effective governance of the country in the coming years. The New Democracy had a very good result in the previous elections, even so there needs to be a clear and strong mandate to it Kyriakos Mitsotakis, so that a self-sufficient government can be formed so that we can continue the work of the first four years and face a series of challenges and issues that are in front of us. The messages are optimistic and I don’t think that anyone is going to get caught up in the logic of a relaxed vote. It’s a new election and the citizens understand that they have to participate, since the polls are empty.”
For her part, MEP Ms. Asimakopoulou made the following statement: “I had the opportunity to visit with Makis Voridis, Grevena and Florina, two regions with special beauty and rich history. Here, where with the policy of her government New Republic reducing regional disparities is not a slogan, but is taking shape. For Grevena, the investment plan for Western Macedonia, with secured funds from the European Investment Bank, modernizes the tourist infrastructure and breathes new life into the huge prospect. But regional development is already a reality in Florina with the increase in GDP and the utilization of all available European financial tools. These 4 years have been a lot. We ask that you give us a clear, strong mandate to do even more. Let’s move steadily, boldly, forward.”
