“SYRIZA is not a flare, it will be strong at the polls on June 25 and stronger in the battles ahead. We do not forget who we represent, the interests of society. We defy the political costs when it comes to defending values”, stressed Alexis Tsipras speaking at Eleftherias Square in Korydallos.

The president of SYRIZA PS called on the citizens to realize that in the new election their lives will be judged for the next 4 years and two programs and two alternative governance plans collide: “of the ND which has many hidden elements – some promises and others it has submitted in the mid-term – and the SYRIZA program that will implement what it says.” He said that Mr. Mitsotakis does not want a debate on the programs “that’s why they put it on the feet” from the debate of both two and five.

He emphasized that the stakes of the elections will not be whether we will have a third election in August, but whether the correlations of May 21 will be repeated “and Greece will turn into Orban’s Hungary”. “To prevent the urbanization of the political life of the country”, he emphasized.

Mr. Tsipras commented in particular that “Mr. Georgiadis clearly said that they want 180 MPs to carry out a review on their own” and added that “Mr. Mitsotakis wants to be uncontrollable and unscrupulous”, to put profitability and privatization in the Constitution everywhere. Addressing progressive citizens, he argued that “the big picture is whether we’re going to let an uncontrolled and unruly right-wing flatten social rights the next day.” He invited them, “now that they know that with the enhanced proportional system every vote that does not go to SYRIZA will objectively be a vote that will serve the plan of Mr. Mitsotakis, to join their vote and voice with SYRIZA”. “To reverse this correlation and in any case so that there is someone to look in the eyes of those who want to implement these policies and prevent them.” He said that the plan of the ND is the fragmentation of the opposition forces and a parliament with 7 or 8 parties in order to be completely discredited “and to have various parties and small parties with which Mr. Mitsotakis can cooperate and agree ad hoc ». He also spoke about “some other” parties that, as he said, were created before the elections and were made in the test tube of M. Maximos and were promoted by the media.

The president of SYRIZA argued that the ND plan was expressed in the clearest way by Mrs. Bakoyannis with an “extremely chilling blackmail against the Muslim minority, telling them that if they don’t vote ND they will spend 4 very difficult years”. He said that “this was a message to every household and social group that will have the will to resist the parliaments of party and family power of their regime”, but “we will be here to defend democracy in this place”. “In any case,” he emphasized, “we will be here to defend society, democracy and any social group that resists.”

“Where he was heard saying SYRIZA is a national exception,” said Mr. Tsipras addressing the ND, “we do not allow you to call 1,200,000 SYRIZA voters, the core of the democratic faction, a national exception and traitors.”

Starting his speech, Mr. Tsipras made the “promise” that “we will go to the polls together on June 25 to fight for the overthrow”, noting that “there is a second part to this promise, we will be together on June 26 in all the struggles that we have before us, the struggles that society needs”.

he himself said that the ND’s program is the medium term and foresees, as he mentioned, reductions and not increases in the salaries of civil servants, a reduction in primary public expenditure, i.e. for health and education, it does not envisage an increase in the average salary to 1,500 euros but real increase to 1% in 2027 and shrinking of the NHS “witnessed” by Mr. Pneumatikos. “These are the two worlds colliding. ND considers costs and damages, we above all human lives”, he commented, repeating the basic positions of SYRIZA on the reconstruction of the National Social Security System, with care for all citizens whether they have or do not have the financial means.

He said that “we undertook to wash away all the sins of the political system by taking over a bankrupt country and taking it out of the memorandums”. He emphasized that “every crack we found we implemented a plan for the benefit of society”. He mentioned, among other things, that “despite the memoranda, we made over 300 recruitments at EKAB within the memoranda. They, outside of the memorandums, did not make a single hire.” He emphasized that “we deserve a better life than the one that is prescribed and requires the triage of patients” and the shrinking of hospitals.

Speaking about accuracy, he accused Mr. Mitsotakis that with inflation running at 10%, maintaining the rate of VAT and VAT, the consumer pays twice as much tax. “Six billion more was the tax in 2022 that the citizens paid,” he said, accusing Mr. Mitsotakis that in this way and the method of subsidies going to energy companies, refineries and supermarkets, the biggest redistribution of income took place . He noted that SYRIZA’s commitments are, among other things, to reduce indirect taxes, VAT and VAT, intensive controls in the market, increase the basic salary to 880 euros and establish a price indexation, reinstatement of the 13th pension, return of retrospectives and increases in the salaries of civil servants. “We will find the money by taxing the filthy lucre and great wealth.” He also said there must be another housing policy that will enable young people to leave the nursery, support for public education, schools and universities, repeal of the Minimum Admission Base “created to create a clientele for colleges” , doubling the resources of HEIs and faculty members.

Mr. Tsipras emphasized that Mr. Mitsotakis had ordered the removal of the prisons from Korydallos and the metropolitan park in North Piraeus, “he did not do it”. “He had ordered an even lower VAT rate, before the inflationary crisis, he didn’t do it either,” he continued. He added that “now he says that he allegedly wants to nationalize water.” “We welcome him to the renationalization reforms”, he commented, emphasizing: “Only we know he is lying, because he is implementing a decision he is obliged to after the decision of the Council of Ministers. What he wants to do is what he started through the legislation in March and the establishment of a water regulatory authority, because his plan is to privatize it.” Speaking about the “critical issues”, Mr. Tsipras also referred to the “risk in the next four years for a tsunami of auctions of first homes”, stressing that SYRIZA has a comprehensive plan for protection and debt settlement.
