Omer Celik blamed Greece for the shipwreck in Pylos – Eichmes and from the Turkish press
Irritation prevails in Turkey about the F-16s and their upgrade by the US.
As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthe representative of the justice and development party Omer Celik attacked Menendez and Congresshighlighting features:
“If some refuse to provide Turkey with the necessary weapons systems that are necessary to maintain its security and national sovereignty, i.e. attempt to implement an embargo, then they should not blame Turkey’s effort to find the necessary alternatives . We want to do this within the framework of our common policy and vision in NATO.
Turkey is a sovereign state and has the authority to ensure its security in any case. Our steps regarding Turkey’s national security will not be determined by the whims of US senators. There is no objective view of the senators as we talk about the needs of the Turkish Air Force and other weapons that are necessary for the security of Turkey.
This is nothing more than a policy of ill-educated posturing, which endangers the common security of NATO.”
Alternative solutions are being discussed in Turkey
At the same time, the Turks are considering alternatives until the country builds its own fighter. One of the alternatives is the Eurofighters, which are a favorite of the Turkish air force. At the same time, Moscow wants to provide Russian fighters, but analysts consider it difficult for such a thing to happen.
Ankara: Greeks kill immigrants
Meanwhile, Omer Celik blamed Greece for the shipwreck in Pylos stressing, among other things, that “the Greek coast guard tried to chase the migrants into Italian or Turkish waters”:
“Recently, a boat with 600 migrants sank while the Greek Coast Guard was trying to push it back into Turkish territorial waters according to some reports, or into Italian territorial waters according to others, using inhumane methods.
Thus hundreds of people died among the women and children. An international commission of inquiry should be set up on this issue and those responsible should be punished and there should be observers in the area.
The Greeks sometimes wear uniforms sometimes not, but they pierce boats and people are left to die and push them into either Turkish or Italian territorial waters.
The Greek Coast Guard is turning the Mediterranean into a migrant graveyard in front of everyone’s eyes. Those responsible must be punished.”
Turkish media about the shipwreck in Pylos
Finally, a large portion of the Turkish press aligned with Celik’s point of view, leaves spikes for the Greek coast guard for the shipwreck in Pylos. In fact, today’s newspapers state in their reports that “Athens was caught in the act”, arguing that Greece is responsible for the tragedy.
