ND candidate and former finance minister, Thodoris Skylakakis, speaks of “monstrously false promises” regarding the costing of the SYRIZA program, in a post on Facebook.

“SYRIZA has the audacity to accuse us with lies when its program by any costing – its own or anyone else’s has a budgetary cost of 60 to 83 billion over the four years, which is a pure fraud since in any possible and improbable budgetary scenario there is no not a one in a billion chance of materializing. In other words, he doubts whether there are 3 billion and he himself suggests between 60 and 83 billion. As I explained to Ms. Lymberakis, the problem is not whether the costing of his program is done with sufficient accuracy or not, but that he makes such monstrously false (fiscally) promises that would make Munchausen blush, since the available fiscal space for which and we commit to the next four years is in the order of 9 billion.” Mr. Skylakakis mentions, among others.

At the same time, he left sharp points for PASOK as well, noting that “because Mr. Doudonis entered the debate – advertising his ignorance of fiscal and macro-economics – I remind you that the party has made correspondingly unrealistic promises over half of them, but it has made them with deliberately vague so that they cannot be quantified.

Hence, he has never presented any analytical quantification of his program, in order to hide the real problem which is also here the unrealistic and groundless promises.
