With the election clock counting the last four twenty-four hours before the ballot box is set up on June 25, Piraeus, led by the president of the party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as all its executives, is now focusing on “obstacles” recorded by the previous polls, trying to overcome them in the best possible way.

With these obstacles in mind, the program of the last days of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who was yesterday in Chalkidiki and today will be in Thessaloniki, where he will hold his speech in the evening at Nea Paralia, while the tours of top executives of the ND, some of whom visited Pieria, focusing “in black holes” that were caused in the previous elections by parties to the right of the ND, reducing in parts the “percentage advantage that the Piraeus Street party had, traditionally in these areas.

After his tour of Halkidiki, Polygyros, Nikiti and Nea Moudania, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his interview on SKAI radio, did not fail to refer to the election results of Halkidiki on May 21, where indeed the ND won the percentage that received nationwide, receiving 39.92%, however it appeared to have leaks to its right, with Hellenic Solution registering 6.79% and the Victory party reaching 5.39%.

The election result in Halkidiki did not escape our attention. We did very well. But surely one of the reasons I visit targeted regions of Macedonia is precisely to argue in favor of the need to support the New Democracy from our fellow citizens who chose parties and factions from the right of the New Democracy, possibly a little effortlessly. Possibly they felt that there was no essential governance at stake in the previous ballot,” Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out, speaking to Vassilis Chiotis and Notis Papadopoulos. He also observed that “we also had to explain, especially in the issues concerning Orthodoxy and faith, that no party – let alone a small fraction that we didn’t even know about a few months ago – can claim the monopoly of faith and in this way plunder orthodoxy, which obviously cannot be entrenched within the boundaries of any party, either small or large” he commented.

At the same time, the ND president expressed his belief that “this message is now beginning to be more understandable, but from then on we have elections, the will of the citizens is free and we will evaluate the result on Sunday night” concluded.

In fact, with his presence today and in Thessaloniki, where the ND, despite its large percentages, received pressure from the Hellenic Solution and “Niki”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis wants to “fight” it until the last moment and address it a second time in June to those voters who waver and are attracted by those who, as they say in Piraeus, attempt to take advantage of patriotic and religious sentiment to get votes.

Already during his tour at the beginning of the month in Thessaloniki, Kilkis and Pieria, the president of the ND addressed the voters who chose smaller pieces, non-existent, as he described them, who are trying “to express these authentically the religious feeling” and emphasized: “I want to tell them that faith is not imprisoned within the boundaries of some small parties. Faith and orthodoxy unite, not divide. “Caesar’s to Caesar’s and God’s to God’s”” he said, while even then he had launched an attack on those who attempt to monopolize patriotism and the defense of national interests, respectively listing what the ND government has done since 2019 and for a four-year period to defend the country’s interests.
