Theodorikakos: Absolute priority is security in universities

The safety of students, teachers and university staff is an absolute priority of the government, said from Thessaloniki the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos.

“Universities must be places of education, knowledge, communication, freedom and therefore there must be absolute security for all actors,” said Mr. Theodorikakos, on the municipal television of Thessaloniki, TV 100.

“A few days ago, the Greek Police, in collaboration with the rector’s authorities of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, put an end to a 34-year occupation, symbolizing that fear and tolerance in such abnormal situations are a thing of the past. We will move forward, with modern upgraded universities, so with universities that we guarantee their safety “, he stressed.

Mr. Theodorikakos will meet tomorrow, at the White Tower Police Department, with the four police officers, who on December 18 saved the life of a woman who was in danger from her partner. As he said, he will congratulate them with life, “because they deserve it, because they saved a woman, they saved a human life”.

He also added that in terms of logistics infrastructure, both the Direct Action of Thessaloniki and the DIAS team have been strengthened, while he stressed that he personally will never be satisfied.

“I want to do everything to make our police officers feel much better. We owe it to them and we will continue the work. “There are problems, but we are by their side to deal with them”, he underlined.

Mr. Theodorikakos had meetings at the Governor’s Office with ND MPs and party officials, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stavros Kalafatis.

Tomorrow, he will visit the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, the Evosmos Police Department, while he will meet with the mayors of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas and Kordelios-Evosmos, Kleanthi Mandaliano.
