The nationalist party “Spartans”whose founder is Vasilis Stigas, made a surprise in the June elections, entering the Parliament, according to the exit poll. This is the party supported by Ilias Kasidiaris, who was convicted in the first instance for the criminal organization of Golden Dawn.

THE Vasilis Stigas ifounded the party in 2017. On his Twitter profile, he states that he is a journalist, politician and president of the Spartans party, which he founded in 2017.

He is a former executive of Political Spring founded in June 1993 by Antonis Samaras. Then, in 2000 he joined the Popular Orthodox Alarm (LAOS) of George Karatzaferis and in 2010 he joined the Radical National Alarm of Vassilis Kapernaros.

Also, in 2019, he was a candidate for MEP with the Union of Centers of Vassilis Leventis. As an MEP candidate with the Union of Centers, he had received 752 votes nationwide. In the national elections of the same year, the Spartans again partnered with the Union of Centers. The founder of the Spartans Vassilis Stigas was a candidate in Boeotia and collected only 35 votes.

According to his biography:

“I was born in Livadia in Viotia in 1964 and grew up in Athens. I lived my childhood and teenage years in Haidari, Egaleo and Ilioupoli. I studied Aircraft Engineering and served 22 months in the Army Air Force as a helicopter ground and air engineer.Since 1986 I have worked as a freelancer – the last 25 years in the food industry.

I am married, I have two daughters and one son.

For a number of years I have been involved in journalism, freelance reporting and the presentation of shows of political interest.

I have been heavily politicized since my youth. In 2017 I created the political organization “SPARTATES” and we are going to the National Elections on June 25th this year.

I hope to be useful in the immediate future in the Patriotic space”.
