The citizens have given us a strong mandate to move faster on the path of the great changes that our country needs, stressed the party’s president and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his first statement after the historic victory of the ND. Sending a message of unity, Mr. Mitsotakis said that he will be the prime minister of all Greeks, stressed that he does not promise miracles and warned that he will not tolerate arrogance and arrogant attitudes.

See the statement:

Mr. Mitsotakis said:

“In a resounding and mature way, citizens finally closed a traumatic cycle of lies and toxicity that held the country back and divided society, thus establishing the era of true progress.

I thank and am grateful to the Greek men and women for their trust. This generous support increases the responsibility to live up to their hopes. While I personally now feel a heavier duty to serve the country with all my strength. I never promise miracles. But I assure you that I will remain faithful to my national duty with planning, dedication and above all with hard work, without tolerating any arrogance and any arrogant behavior.

We are also facing the problems and next to all citizens. As much importance as I attach to the effectiveness of the new government, I will fight any attitude that will despise the trust of the society.

Our goals are high and must be high in a second term that can transform Greece with dynamic growth rates that will raise wages and reduce inequality. With better public and free health. With a more efficient and digital state and a strong homeland at the forefront of Europe. We have both the plan and the experience to make all of this a reality.

As of tomorrow, the new government is called upon to put into practice the prevalence of the ideas and political attitudes justified by the ballot box. I know that expectations are high for this and I will always seek wider consents. But the people gave us a secure majority. The major reforms will therefore proceed rapidly as this is what the choice of the Greek people requires and I will honor it fully”, he stressed.

“I am also addressing those of our fellow citizens who did not vote for us today, but also those who unfortunately did not do their duty by significantly increasing their abstention in relation to the May elections, to promise them once again that I will be prime minister of all Greeks. Because problems have no color and citizens, especially the weakest, must feel that the state is next to them in every difficulty”, he underlined.

He closed his statement with a more personal reference as he said: “when 20 years ago I took my first steps in politics, I never imagined that today I would be in front of you having this great honor, this great responsibility, elected for the second time as an independent prime minister and indeed with a strong mandate. I’ve worked really hard to get here, always trying to get better and learn from my mistakes. However, I would not have succeeded without my partners, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart. But I owe a big thank you to my family, to Mareva, to Sofia, to Konstantinos, to Dafni. In their way, they always kept me grounded so that I could follow as much as I could the poet’s lines “you can dream, without becoming a slave to dreams and above all to talk with the crowds and keep your virtue”.

Today we will enjoy our victory for a while from tomorrow morning, but we will roll up our sleeves again and begin the effort to build together a strong Greece, a homeland with more prosperity, with more justice for everyone.

Thanks again for the great price. An even better day dawns for everyone tomorrow.”

The entire statement of the President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis

With today’s election result, Greece opens a new historical chapter on its path. For the second time in a few weeks, citizens have not only sent a message of continuity on the path we set out four years ago, but have given us a strong mandate to move faster on the path of the great changes that our country needs.

In a resounding and mature way, they finally closed a traumatic cycle of lies and toxicity that held the country back and divided society, thus establishing the era of true progress.

I thank and am grateful to the Greek men and women for their trust. This generous support increases the responsibility to live up to their hopes.

While I personally now feel a heavier duty to serve the country with all my strength. I never promise miracles. I assure you, however, that I will remain faithful to my national duty, with a plan, dedication and above all with hard work. Without tolerating any arrogance and any arrogant behavior.

We are, moreover, in the face of problems and next to all citizens. As much importance, then, as I attach to the efficiency of the new government, I will fight any attitude that will disdain the trust of society.

Our goals are high and must be high, in a second term that can transform Greece. With dynamic growth rates that will increase wages and reduce inequalities. With better public and free health. With a more efficient and digital state. And a strong homeland, at the forefront of Europe. We have both the plan and the experience to make all of this a reality.

As of tomorrow, the new government is called upon to put into practice the prevalence of the ideas and political attitudes justified by the ballot box.

I know expectations are high. That is why I will always seek wider consents. But the people gave us a secure majority. The major reforms, therefore, will proceed with speed, as this is what the choice of the Greek people requires. And I will honor her fully.

I also address those of our fellow citizens who did not vote for us today, but also those who unfortunately did not do their duty, significantly increasing abstention in relation to the May elections, to promise them once again that I will be the Prime Minister of all Greeks. Because problems have no color and citizens, especially the weakest, must feel the state by their side in every difficulty.

Finally, let me close with a more personal note. When, 20 years ago, I took my first steps in politics, I never imagined that today I would be standing before you with this great honor, this great responsibility, elected for the second time as independent Prime Minister, and indeed with a strong mandate.

I’ve worked really hard to get here, always trying to get better and learn from my mistakes. I would not have succeeded, however, without my collaborators, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart. But I owe a big “thank you” to my family, to Mareva, to Sofia, to Konstantinos, to Dafni. In their way, they always kept me grounded, so that I could follow the poet’s lines as much as I could: you can dream, without becoming a slave to dreams. And especially with the crowds to speak and keep your virtue.

Today we will enjoy our victory for a while. From tomorrow morning, however, we roll up our sleeves again and start the effort to build a strong Greece together, a homeland with more prosperity, with more justice for everyone.

Thanks again for the great price. An even better day dawns for everyone tomorrow.
