The President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 11:00 will go to presidential palace where he will receive the mandate to form a government from the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

At 13:00 he will be sworn in Kyriakou Mitsotakis before the President of the Republic at the Presidential Palace.

Earlier at 09:50, President of the Republic she will receive the president of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoula, who will inform her about the strength of the parties in the Parliament that emerged during the June 25 elections.

The new cabinet is expected to be announced on Monday afternoon.

Proceedings starting tomorrow

At 9 tomorrow morning, the acting Minister of the Interior, Kalliopi Spanou, will go to the House of Parliament where she will deliver the table with the official election results of June 25, to the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoula. He, in turn, will go to Herodos Attikou in order to inform the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

Subsequently, the President of the Republic will contact the president of the ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as the leader of the party that has the absolute majority of seats in the new Parliament, in order to appoint him prime minister and entrust him with the mandate to form a government, in accordance with article 37 par. 2 of the Constitution. The re-elected prime minister will be sworn in at the Presidential Palace, and a few hours later, the announcement of the composition of the new ND government is expected.

Next Monday, July 3, at 11 a.m., the swearing-in of the deputies elected in the recent elections will take place, and the next day, Tuesday, July 4, the plenary session of the 9th (twentieth) Parliamentary Period of the Presiding Parliamentary Democracy will convene for the election of the President of the Hellenic Parliament, the election of the vice-presidents of the body as well as the secretaries and deans of the parliament.

The first, this, phase of the new four-year period, will be completed with the reading of the Programmatic Statements of the government and the vote of confidence of the Parliament.

According to the Constitution (Article 84) and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament (Article 141), the government must, within fifteen days of the swearing-in of the Prime Minister, appear in the Parliament and request a vote of confidence, after the discussion of its programmatic statements. The three-day debate on the programmatic statements of the new government is expected to take place a few days after the swearing-in of MPs and the election of the presidium of the Parliament, and will culminate at midnight on the third day of debate, with the vote on the motion of confidence in the new government.
