The governance of the country is a case that never stops, said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, addressing the outgoing acting prime minister. Ioannis Sharma during the handover ceremony, after the swearing-in of the ND president at the Presidential Palace.

The dialogue between Sharma and Mitsotakis

Ioannis Sharmas: I wish you, just as you swore before to serve the general welfare of the Greek people, to serve it in the most effective way and to have the most useful results for our country.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Mr. President, thank you for your kind words and I also thank you and your Cabinet for the excellent manner in which you performed your duties. You have remained in this office for a few weeks, but you have seen that life always has surprises in store for us, and the governance of the country is a business that never stops.

I again want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the fact that we managed to pass this transition period between the two elections in an exemplary manner and – as you said – I can, now being the elected Prime Minister and enjoying the confidence of the Parliament, return to this office, to continue my work.

You too realized the weight of this space and the weight of the responsibility of this office and I assure you that I will do the best I can, as I swore a while ago in the Constitution, to serve the general well-being of the Greek people.

Ioannis Sharmas: Of course, Mr. President. Good luck.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Thank you.
