It will be interesting in the Parliament, which will be sworn in on Monday, whether the three parties will make a “truce” and have a joint step not only in legislation, but also in the face of the advance of forces from the extreme right.

In the triangle of Koumoundourou, Harilaou Trikoupi, Perissou several “heavy conversations” have been heard in the pre-election period.
The three parties had common “interests”, appealed to people undecided by the space of the Left, left behind each other and in some cases had the same goals in terms of regions. Especially since SYRIZA lost a large part of its power, both PASOK and KKE entered a “wedge” in order to take second place. The official opposition did not elect a member of parliament in 23 districts last Sunday, with what this may mean for the self-governing elections. It reduced the number of its representatives in the Parliament significantly to 48, in contrast to PASOK and KKE which increased them compared to 2019 to 32 and 20 respectively.
The battle between SYRIZA and PASOK was tough, as it was on May 21 with Nikos Androulakis’s party taking the lead in 10 districts. In Rethymno, it widened the gap with SYRIZA (25.71% – 18.71%) despite the presence of Alexis Tsipras on the ballot. The remaining nine districts in which PASOK finished second behind New Democracy were: Lasithi (25.58%-14.55%), Heraklion (23.01%-20.5%), Chios (19.89%, 10.52%), Drama (13.5%-13.29%), Laconia (14.77%-12.8%), Lesvos (14.72%-13.45%), Dodecanese (14.52 %-13.07%), Halkidiki (14.52%-13.7%), Kilkis (14.32%-12.63%).
However, there were ten regions where the KKE managed to pass PASOK, showing the weakness that Harilaou Trikoupi still has in the large urban centers. Dimitris Koutsoumbas prevailed over Nikos Androulakis in A’ Athens, northern sector, southern sector, western sector, A’ Piraeus, B’ Piraeus, Western Attica, A’ Thessaloniki, Kefalonia and Samos.
Since the KKE – SYRIZA red match, there has been supremacy in Samos, Lesvos. Abstention hit all three forces, taking away a significant part of the percentage they had registered in the previous election. SYRIZA lost 255,681 votes, PASOK 59,120 supporters and KKE 25,815. The result of the losses is the fact that all three forces do not reach the percentage of the blue faction, gathering 37.38%.
The hegemony in the wider area has been held by Koumoundourou since the summer of 2012, however in the recent elections neither of the two managed to reap significant benefits from the losses of SYRIZA. And this affects mainly PASOK. It will be interesting in the Parliament, which will be sworn in on Monday, whether the three parties will make a “truce” and have a joint step not only in legislation, but also in the face of the advance of forces from the extreme right.
