The result of the elections left a feeling of bitterness in SYRIZA, it was a result that no one expected, said SYRIZA MP Evangelos Apostolakis while speaking to SKAI, adding that between the first and second election contests there was no time for a turnaround.

Asked about the developments in SYRIZA, but also whether it will be a capable opposition, he said: “The big issue is to identify the problems, to put the whole case of SYRIZA on a new basis, the opposition must be substantial and effective, because the country is governed much better when there is a substantial opposition.

I believe that everything will be done quickly in SYRIZA, the processes have already started, there is no point if the processes do not run quickly.

At present there is no question, it is clear that Tsipras is not in doubt for now. The bodies will be convened and we’ll see what happens.”

When asked if there are alternatives, he answered: “When you move within the framework of democracy, there should be alternatives, but at the moment it doesn’t seem like that.”

And he added: “My view is that the limit should be the next matchup. In the municipal elections, we must stand with dignity, I believe that by then the issues should have been closed and the next day should have begun to be seen”.

To a question about the government that was announced yesterday, Mr. Apostolakis commented: “I appreciate that it is a good government, the best choices that can be made, are made for the good of the country. Of course, every government is judged by the result, I hope and appreciate that it will go well. It is good for all of us that the country is doing well.”
